    • Data transmission equipment includes a plurality of data stations connected in series through a loop transmission path. A synchronizing station is connected to the data stations in the loop transmission line. The synchronizing station generates transmission signals made up of a synchronizing slot, an address slot and data transmission slots. A display board for setting and displaying data is connected to at least one of the data stations. Process line controllers are connected to data stations to transmit data related to process control to, or receive data from, a process control apparatus. The data transmission equipment further includes sensor bases connected to data stations. Each data station includes a coupling unit connected in series with the loop transmission line, transmitting and receiving units connected to the coupling unit through a bus, input units provided between the transmitting units and the sensor bases, and a bus provided between the transmitting units and the sensor bases. One embodiment of the equipment includes a buffer memory and an output buffer memory which holds the contents of the buffer memory until they are stored in an output memory.

    • A method of forming a radiographic image uses the phenomenon that some substances emit exoelectrons when exposed to heating or to irradiation of light after first being irradiated by X-rays. First, X-rays are irradiated through a subject to an exoelectron emitting member consisting of a conductive base plate and a layer of exoelectron emitting substance superposed thereon. Subsequently, the surface of the exoelectron emitting member is coated with a charge injection liquid and a nonconductive sheet is placed in intimate contact with the charge injection liquid. The insulating sheet is coated with a conductive liquid, and a conductive electrode is superposed thereon. The laminate is then exposed to heating or to irradiation of light while applying a voltage between the conductive base plate and the conductive electrode. If light irradiation is used, it is directed onto the conductive electrode which must be transparent. In either case, an electrostatic latent image is formed on the insulating sheet.

    • A tightening head (1) is provided with at least two sockets (4i, 4ii) which are alternatively connected to an output shaft of a nut runner (3), a socket replacing mechanism (6) and a bolt supplying mechanism (7). The socket replacing mechanism (6) is provided with a moving mechanism (61) and a posture changing mechanism (64).     • There is provided a recording/playback device able to differentiate the type of an optical disc or another such optical recording medium with a high degree of precision while correcting wavefront aberrations. The recording/playback device has a detection part for sequentially detecting the surface of a cover layer and one or a plurality of signal recording surfaces of an object to be detected on the basis of an output signal of a photodetector, a medium differentiation part for differentiating the type of the detected object on the basis of the detection results, an aberration correction element, and an aberration control part for controlling the aberration correction state of the aberration correction element. When the focal point of the light beam moves toward the signal recording surface, the aberration control part sets the aberration correction state of the aberration correction element to a state between a first aberration correction state in which the wavefront aberrations are appropriately corrected in accordance with a surface of a cover layer of a predetermined optical recording medium, and a second aberration correction state in which the wavefront aberrations are appropriately corrected in accordance with a signal recording surface of the predetermined optical recording medium.

    • Disclosed is an optical recording/reproducing apparatus capable of performing focus search with high reliability even when a wavefront aberration occurs due to a thickness of a protective layer of an optical disk. The optical recording/reproducing apparatus comprises: an optical system which focuses the beam spot into the recording medium; a spot moving section which moves the beam spot at least in a direction parallel to thickness of the protective layer; a surface detector which detects each of a surface of the protective layer and one or more signal recording surfaces based on a returning light; and a focus controller which starts focusing servo control with respect to the one or more signal recording surfaces when the surface detector detects the surface of the protective layer and thereafter detects the one or more signal recording surfaces.
