摘要： PURPOSE:To readily produce a wood based foam using a process suitable in industrialization, by dissolving a wood material in an organic compound containing an active group capable of carrying out polymerization, introducing a substituent group into hydroxyl group of the resultant solution, foaming and curing the solution. CONSTITUTION:A wood material (e.g. wood powder) is dissolved in an organic compound (preferably polyhydric alcohol) containing active group capable of carrying out polymerization (preferably by adding 10-1,000pts.wt. wood material to 100 organic compound and stirring the mixture at 250 deg.C) and the resultant wood solution is subjected to preferably esterification or etherification to introduce a substituent (preferably hydroxyethyl group) to hydroxyl group of the above-mentioned solution and a crosslinking gent, curing agent and foaming agent are added thereto and the blend is foamed and cured to provide the wood based foam.

摘要： PURPOSE:To obtain a variety of wood-based resins highly utilizing a woody material, by dissolving a chemically modified wood in a polyhydric alcohol, and resinifying the solution. CONSTITUTION:A wood raw material (e.g. wood flour, wood fiber, etc.) is introduced with substituent groups (e.g. acetyl group, propionyl group, nitro group, carbon, etc.) in an amount to achieve a weight increase of 5-50%, and the chemically modified wood is dissolved in a polyhydric alcohol (e.g. ethylene glycol, propylene glycol, glycerol, etc.) in the presence or absence of a catalyst. The solution is resinified with a crosslinking agent or a hardener.

摘要： PURPOSE:To obtain a woody material having improved thermoplasticity causing the melting under heating, by treating the woody material with a reactant, e.g. an esterifying agent, grafting the treated woody material, making the woody material amorphous, swelling the material, and impregnating the woody material with a polymerizable substance. CONSTITUTION:A woody material is treated with a reactant reactive with the hydroxyl groups in the woody material, e.g. an esterifying agent or etherifying agent. A polymerizable substance, e.g. monomer, oligomer or prepolymer of a vinyl compound, is grafted onto the treated woody material to modify the woody material. The graft copolymerization is carried out by the conventional method, e.g. impregnating a radical polymerization catalyst, e.g. hydrogen peroxide or benzoyl peroxide, and the polymerizable substance into the woody material, and radically polymerizing the polymerizable substance. The modified woody material can be molded into an optional shape by applying heat and pressure thereto.
