摘要： A sensor measures temperature in stationary components of electrical machines using fiber optics. An optical fiber is embedded in a non-metallic ribbon. Notches are cut in the ribbon to effect bends that accommodate a shape of a stationary component. The ribbon and optical fiber are attached to the stationary component. A series of laser pulses can be injected from at least one end of the optical fiber, and the stationary component temperature can be monitored by interrogation of reflections from the series of laser pulses.

摘要： An electrical machine to facilitate transporting fluids through a pipeline is provided. The machine includes a stator, a rotor magnetically coupled to the stator, and a housing enclosing the rotor and the stator. The housing includes a wall that facilitates channeling a first fluid at a first pressure through a portion of the housing. The machine also includes a stator enclosure defined by at least one wall that facilitates maintaining a second fluid within the stator enclosure. The stator enclosure is positioned within the electric machine housing. The stator enclosure has at least one wall that substantially isolates the second fluid from the first fluid such that only the second fluid is in flow communication with the stator. The stator enclosure has at least one wall that facilitates heat transfer from the second fluid to the first fluid. At least a portion of at least one of the stator enclosure walls is configured to facilitate equalizing the first pressure and the second pressure.

摘要： A rotor in a electrical machine comprises a magnetic core having at least two poles, a plurality of winding assemblies, one for each pole, and a damper winding enclosing at least a portion of the magnetic core and winding assemblies. The damper winding has (i) a plurality of electrically conductive rings concentric with a rotational axis of the magnetic core and (ii) a plurality of bars extending parallel to the rotational axis of the magnetic core and connecting to each of the rings. A radially outward surface of each of the bars is connected to a respective radially inner surface of each of the rings. A spindle of the magnetic core has first and second flat surfaces extending perpendicular to a direct axis of the magnetic core. The magnetic core may include first and second projections extending in opposite directions along the quadrature axis.

摘要： An electrical connector comprises as shown in FIGS. 23 to 25, an insulating housing defining a socket for an electrical lamp bulb and first and second cavities and for receiving a first terminal and a second terminal respectively. The first terminal has a contact spring in the socket, the second terminal having a contact spring in the socket. An electric lamp bulb can be inserted into the socket so that contacts of the bulb are resiliently engaged by the respective contact springs. Each terminal also has a slotted plate portion for connection to an insulated electrical lead. The top wall of the housing is formed with two spaced holes for receiving lead wires of a diode. The first terminal has, a spring socket aligned with each of the holes and. Between the spring sockets, the first terminal has a reduced cross section severable portion, which is accessible to be sheared by shearing tooling, by way of an opening in the top wall and an opening in the opposite wall of the housing. Where the diode is to be connected in circuit with the bulb the severable portion is sheared out by means of the tooling, and the lead wires of the diode are inserted through the holes and the spring sockets. Where the diode is not needed, the severable portion is left in situ.
