    • A carbon brush spring system comprises a carbon brush arranged at a first terminal surface thereof conductively contacting a rotatable collector body (20) for electric current transfer. The system furthermore comprises a spring part arranged at a region of the carbon brush away from the first terminal surface to engage with the carbon brush for therewith establishing a current conductive interconnection to an external electric facility. The system furthermore comprises mechanical stabilizing arranged for maintaining a stable position of the carbon brush relative to the rotatable collector body in both radial and tangential directions in a housing. Particularly, the system has a substantially symmetric structure in tangential direction of rotation, through being provided with a first section (30,36) and a second section (29, 38) that collectively constitute the spring part. Furthermore, a carbon brush part (22, 24) is structurally fixed to the spring part. The first and second members together constitute a symmetric arrangement between the carbon brush part and respective attachment facilities for fixed connection to the housing, wherein the first and second sections at an intermediate range between the carbon brush and the housing are disposed away from each other at a distance that is appreciably larger than either at the carbon brush or at the housing.

    • The invention relates to a device and a method for producing crystalline bodies by directional solidification. The device comprises a melting furnace (11) having a heating chamber (12) in which at least one supporting surface (13) for a crucible (8) and at least one gas purging device arranged above the supporting surface (13) and having a gas outlet facing the supporting surface (13) are defined. An embodiment of the device is characterized in that the gas outlet is defined by one or more openings in a lower plunger surface of a plunger-shaped element (2) which has a geometry adapted to the inner shape of the crucible (8), said shape allowing an at least partial insertion of the plunger-shaped body (2) into the crucible (8). The gas purging device and/or the supporting surface (13) comprise an adjusting mechanism or are designed to be adjustable in such a manner that they allow an adjustment of a perpendicular distance between the supporting surface (13) and the plunger-shaped body (2). The device and the corresponding method allow carbon- and oxygen-containing materials to be discharged from the melt more efficiently and in a controlled manner. The device and the method thus allow—within certain limits—a specific adjustment of the carbon and oxygen content of the crystalline bodies.

    • The present invention relates to an accelerator pedal for a motor vehicle, especially one with an automatic gearbox. The pedal includes a pedal arm which in one end area thereof is pivotally mounted about a pivoting axis and which in the other end thereof is provided with a pedal plate which can be impinged upon the force by the driver. When force is exerted upon the pedal plate, the pedal arm can be pivoted into an absolute final position when a kick down switch is actuated, wherein a signal can be produced by the kick down switch and can be fed to a control electronics system. The kick down switch comprises a permanent magnet, the magnet force thereof being used to retain a magnetically conducting component on a magnetic return element whereby the component can be moved away from the magnetic return element as a result of the movement of the pedal arm into an end position.
