Wheel-carrying brackets 4 comprise sleeves 5 rotatably mounted on tubes 1 and provided with plates 10 supporting wheels 12 and axles 11 to which is pivoted a transverse telescopic connecting rod 13 locked in extended position by a spring-loaded plunger. The swinging movement of brackets 4 is limited horizontally and vertically by pins 9 engaging bayonet-ended slots 6 in sleeves 5. Folding luggage supports 19 are provided.

In a plug-and-socket coupling (Fig. 6) for concentric cables, the braided outer cable conductors 34 are connected through the outer casings 6, 22 of the plug-and-socket units, which are held together by a coupling-nut 28, and the inner conductors 32 are joined by a pin-andsocket connection 3, 20. In both plug-andsocket units the braided wire outer conductor 34 is turned back to lie over the outside of a sleeve member 14 and is clamped thereon by a splitring 2. The insulated core protruding out of the end of the sleeve, together with a plug pin 20 or socket contact 3 soldered, or crimped, or secured by a washer 42 (Fig. 4b) to the inner conductor, is enclosed either in moulded insulating sleeves 38, 39 (Figs. 4a and 4b) or in a body 4 of polythene or other thermo-plastic insulating material which is moulded thereon and unites with the polythene core insulation (Figs. 3a and 3b). A resilient sealing-ring 37 may be provided in a groove in the body 4. The socket contact 3 (Fig. 2a) has a number of axial slits and the resilient fingers thus formed are kept under spring tension by a resilient split sleeve 13. Low resistance contact between outer casings 6 and 22 (Figs. 5a and 5b) is secured by providing a rolled spring 5 in the casing 6 which grips the end of casing 22 when the coupling is brought into engagement by nut 28. Sealing-rings 19 and 19a are provided to prevent air leakage. Ring 19a also provides a friction lock as does friction washer 30. A nut may be provided to mount casing 6 on a suitable panel. The apparatus is applicable to a multi-cored cable.

Ground anchors. - A base plate 3 for the support of a post 1 for tennis and like nets, is provided with a socket 2 for the reception of the post and with a lateral slot 5 and longitudinal slot 8, situated at opposite ends of the base plate, for the insertion of downwardly extending sheet members which serve to retain the base plate in a horizontal position. The sheet members are provided with flanges 20, 21, 22 to engage the base plate and are preferably grooved and apertured and inclined to the flanges to obtain a better grip in the earth. The socket 2 is provided with a strengthening bracket 4 on the net side of the base plate.

One member of a pair of rigid, adjustably inter - engag - ing members is pivoted to the post whilst the other is attached to the net. As shown, a lever 11 pivoted to a bracket 10 on a tennis post 1, is provided with a button 12 adapted to engage any one of a series of notches 13 in a member 14 attached to the end of the tennis net rope 15. The net is tensioned by pressing the lever 11 downwardly into the position shown in dotted lines. In a modification the lever 11 is provided with the notches while the button is situated on the end of the member 14.
