    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a soil improving method allowing large-scale recycling of wood from cutting disposed of as industrial waste in the past. SOLUTION: Small pieces of a wood-based waste material are coated using a coating material such as viscous cement paste, viscous asphalt emulsion or chemical resin, and the coated small pieces and a soil material are mixed to obtain a mixed material. The mixed material is used to improve soil. To improve soil, the mixed material is installed on a slope face and an upper face of mounded soil formed using a banking material which is solely a soil material. Alternatively, a mixed material with a large mixing ratio of small pieces is installed on a slope face and an upper face of mounded soil formed using a mixed material with a small mixing ratio of small pieces. There is also a case of installing a mixed material in a surface layer of the ground and installing a banking material which is solely a soil material, on the upper face of the mixed material.     • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To conduct the stable simple execution of works by the same usage as natural materials by using a vitreous foam obtained by adding a foaming material to vitreous waste-material powder and thermally treating the powder as a banking material or a back-filling material. SOLUTION: A foaming material is added to vitreous waste-material powder obtained by crushing a glass waste material such as bottle glass, plate glass or the like and thermally treating the powder, and crushed stone-shaped vitreous foams 1, 1 are acquired. Powder, in which a small amount of pulverized glass powder are blended to coarsely crushed glass powder, is preferable as the vitreous waste-material powder. The vitreous foams 1 are spread all over as a banking material or a back-filling material, and rolled and compacted while aiming at dry density of ρd=0.3-0.5 t/m3. Accordingly, the waste material is utilized effectively, and lightweight soil can be executed stably and simply by the same usage as natural materials.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain lightweight mixed soil for land-forming a permeable ground, by which the same stable simple execution as natural materials can be executed, by mixing vitreous foams obtained by adding a foaming material to vitreous waste-material powder and thermally treating the powder with sandy soil. SOLUTION: A foaming material is added to vitreous waste-material powder obtained by crushing a glass waste material such as bottle glass, plate glass or the like and thermally treated, and crushed stone-shaped vitreous foams 1 are acquired. Powder, in which a small amount of pulverized glass powder are blended to coarsely crushed glass powder, is preferable as the vitreous waste-material powder. The vitreous foams 1 are mixed with sandy soil 2 and spread all over as lightweight mixed soil 13, and rolled and compacted. Consequently, a permeable ground within a range of wet density of ρt=0.8-1.6 t/m3 can be land-formed. Accordingly, the stable simple execution of works can be conducted by the same usage as natural materials by utilizing a waste material.
