摘要： A content-adaptive overdrive system and method, for a display panel, include a frame difference device and an overdrive device. The frame difference device generates a frame difference map according to a current frame and a previous frame. The frame difference map includes a number of flags respectively indicating similarity between corresponding pixels or blocks of the current frame and the previous frame. The overdrive device adaptively performs an overdrive function based on the frame difference map, the current frame, the previous frame and an overdrive lookup table, hence resulting in an overdrived frame.

摘要： A method of image compression and a device thereof are provided herein. First, an image having a plurality of regions is received. Next, a quantization process is performed on a specific region of the image according to a quantization value, wherein the specific region is one of the regions. Next, a first average bit rate of the specific region of the image after an encoding process is calculated. Furthermore, the quantization value of the corresponding specific region of the next received image is adjusted according to the first average bit rate of the specific region of the image. Therefore, by referring to the scene complexity of the previous image to adjust the quantization value, the compressed image quality can be enhanced and the compression ratio can be maintained a regular value without wasting bandwidth.

The average pixel size of the compressed current block is averaged with an average pixel size of preceding block or blocks to obtain an average value. The compressed current block is passed as output, if the average value is not greater than a target value; otherwise a portion of the current block prior to compression is truncated and then passed as the output.
