    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ruthenium complex catalyst or the like capable of obtaining α,β-unsaturated carboxylic acid derivative of which β-position is replaced at high yield and high selectivity in a co-dimerization reaction of olefin and α,β-unsaturated carboxylic acid ester. SOLUTION: Cyclic olefin with distortion and α,β-unsaturated carboxylic acid ester are reacted (co-dimerization) in the presence of the ruthenium complex catalyst in which multidentate ligand is coordinated to 0 valent ruthenium or in the presence of the ruthenium complex catalyst in which the multidentate ligand is coordinated to divalent, trivalent or tetravalent ruthenium, a reducing agent for reducing ruthenium contained in the ruthenium complex catalyst and a solvent functioned as a reduction auxiliary agent to produce the α,β-unsaturated carboxylic acid derivative of which the β-position is replaced.
