摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the producing efficiency of an image display device by facilitating the reduction of an evacuation time and the formation of a high vacuum in producing the image display device. SOLUTION: The method of producing the image display device comprises a process of forming a conductor forming an electron emission portion with energizing treatment and a wire connected to the conductor on an electron source substrate 10, covering the electron source substrate 10 with a vacuum container 12 in the state of extending a portion of the wire on the electron source substrate 10 to the outside to form a vacuum atmosphere inside, energizing the conductor using the wire extended to the outside to form the electron source substrate 10, and giving treatment to the obtained electron source substrate 10 and a fluorescent substrate having a fluorescent material while being moved between treatment chambers in sequence in the vacuum atmosphere.

摘要： PURPOSE:To manufacture electron emitting elements having excellent stability and a high efficiency quickly and easily by forming an electron emission part on a conductive film furnished between two opposing electrodes, and depositing carbon by the use of a carbonic compound having a specific vapor pressure. CONSTITUTION:By means of sputtering, etc., an electrode material is deposited on a base board 1, and element electrodes 2, 3 are formed using the photographic technique. Thereon a molten organic metal is applied followed by heating, baking, and etching or the like so that a conductive film 4 is formed between the two electrodes 2, 3 which are opposing. Then a reforming process is conducted, consisting of impressing a pulse voltage between the element electrodes 2, 3 and feeding current, and an electron emission part 5 whose structure has changed is formed on the conductive film 4. Then carbon or a carbonic compound is deposited on this film 4 as an activating process. The carbonic compound should have a vapor pressure of 5000hPa or less, more favorably between 2-5000hPa, in the temp. atmosphere specified for this process, and current is fed to between the electrodes so that activation is obtained.

CONSTITUTION:A linear flow route 2 is formed in the inside of a flow cell 1 and a dispersing medium in which a plurality of types of particles exist is made to flow in the route. Interference light 3 which forms stripe interference fringes is irradiated to the linear flow route 2. Consequently, every time the moving particles pass one interference light beam, the particles receive braking force due to light gradient force. At that time, larger braking force works on particles with larger sizes or refractive indexes rather than on particles with smaller sizes or refractive indexes. As a result, smaller particles on which smaller braking force works pass the light radiating positions quicker and thus the particles are classified successively from smaller particles with smaller braking force to larger ones. Consequently, the separation and classification of the particles are carried out easily and surely.

The display element and display device are constituted by clamping the display layer constituted by impregnating the porous film, which is formed by dispersing and mixing the high polymer compd. and liquid or solid and extracting the liquid or solid and has the open cells, with the liquid crystal, between a pair of substrates, at least one of which have transparent electrodes.
