    • A method and apparatus for minimizing diffraction effects on flat panel displays. The flat panel display includes a plurality of display elements, each display element including a first structural feature having an edge and a second structural feature disposed on the first structural feature. The edge of the first structural feature causes incident rays from a point light source to generate diffraction effects due to the Fresnel reflectance difference in the boundary between the first and second structural features. The display further includes an edge texture on the edge of the first structural feature to minimize the diffraction effects into a more diffused diffraction pattern.

    • A method of compensating for differential aging of independent emitters in a display is disclosed. According to the method, an image on the display is periodically sampled to determine how often each independent emitter is used. A history is compiled of the use of each independent emitter for a predetermined time. The amount of luminance decay that each independent emitter has experienced over the predetermined time is estimated. The maximum luminance of each independent emitter is adjusted so that the maximum luminances of all of the independent emitters is substantially the same as the maximum luminance of the independent emitter that has experienced the most decay.

    • A projection display is provided according to one embodiment of the invention. The projection display includes a hollow case including a window opening, a screen formed on one portion of the case, and at least one mirror internally mounted to the case at a position to reflect light from the window opening to the screen. The projection display further includes a window mounted in the window opening. The projection display further includes an optical engine mounted to the case. The optical engine is positioned over the window and oriented so that emitted light from the optical engine is directed onto the at least one mirror. The projection display further includes a diaphragm internally attached to the case and dividing an internal volume of the case into a first portion and a second portion. The projection display further includes a gas filling the second portion of the case at an overpressure and a vent communicating with the first portion of the case and communicating with an external environment. The vent at least partially equalizes the overpressure of the second portion with a pressure of the external environment.

    • A non-emissive display unit such as a liquid crystal display is disclosed. The non-emissive display unit is adapted for mounting in a rack or panel.     • An apparatus for correcting a reverted image is disclosed. The apparatus includes first, second, and third axially aligned lenses. The first and third lenses each have a first focal length in a first plane and a second focal length in a second plane that is orthogonal to the first plane. The second lens is disposed between and coaxially aligned with the first and third lenses. The second lens has a third focal length in the first plane and a fourth focal length in the second plane. The reverted image passes through the first, second, and third lenses and is reversed along one of the first and second planes to thereby correct the reverted image.
