    • The present invention relates to a memory allocation method using multi-level partition, which is capable of analyzing an allocation-requested fixed size to be used as a basic allocation unit, dividing the memory into a plurality of blocks, subdividing each of the blocks into the same number of subblocks and designating subblocks having the same orders in different blocks with the same pointer value. The memory allocation method according to the present invention comprises the steps of analyzing an allocation-requested fixed size to be used as a basic allocation unit and dividing the memory into a plurality of blocks, subdividing each of the divided blocks into one or more subblocks of the same size, the divided blocks being subdivided into the same number of subblocks, designating each of the subblocks having the same orders in different blocks with the same pointer value, and allocating the subblocks designated with the same pointer value as one memory space.

    • Provided is a digital broadcast system that receives digital broadcast services on a passive optical network (PON). The data separator separates a signal input thereinto from the outside into an Ethernet frame for data service and an Ethernet frame for digital broadcast service. The Ethernet switch transmits the Ethernet frame for data service to an optical network terminal (ONT) provided in the user's home according to header information of the Ethernet frame for data service. The channel request processor receives the user's channel selection request information and user identification (ID) information from the ONT. The digital broadcast processor transmits the Ethernet frame for digital broadcast service, corresponding to the digital broadcast channel selected by the user, to the user's ONT, by using a part of bandwidth assigned for an existing line.

    • Disclosed herein is a shared Local Area Network (LAN) emulation method and apparatus. The method includes the following four steps. At the first step, a Logical Link Identifier (LLID) management table is set up to assign unique LLIDs to a plurality of Optical Network Units (ONUs) and manage the assigned LLIDs so as to identify the plurality of ONUs connected to a single Optical Line Terminal (OLT). Thereafter, a MAC address table is set up for the LLIDs to learn MAC addresses of the ONUs. Thereafter, the unique LLIDs are assigned to ONUs when the ONUs request registration from the OLT. Finally, data frames, which are received by a Shared LAN Emulation (SLE) layer of the OLT, are bridged using the LLIDs, VIDs of Virtual LANs to which the ONUs belong and destination MAC addresses of the data frames so as to provide a single matched port between a Logical Link Control (LLC) layer and a MAC layer of the OLT.

    • Provided is an optical Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) transmitting apparatus and method for transmitting bipolar data in an optical CDMA system. The optical CDMA transmitting apparatus and method of the present research has a simple structure, including only one optical CDMA encoder and one optical modulator. This technology minimizes multiple access interference by using modified pseudo-noise code in the encoding process, thus improving the optical CDMA transmission performance. The optical CDMA transmitting apparatus includes: an optical CDMA encoding means for encoding lights from the outside into a code or a complement code of the code; and an optical modulation means for transmitting the code or the complement code of the code which is selected in the optical CDMA encoding means based on the polarity (either ‘0’ or ‘1’) of the data inputted from the outside.

    • A MAC master apparatus for executing a multi-point control protocol (MPCP) data in an optical line termination (OLT) of an Ethernet passive optical network (PON) is provided. The MPCP master apparatus includes a CPU interface unit, two or more memory arbitration control units, a SGA table memory, a RTT table memory, a static grant generation unit, a dynamic grant generation unit, a static grant queue, a dynamic grant queue, a sending message queue, a sending multiplexing unit, a time setting unit, a receiving window generation unit, an upstream grant queue, a received demultiplexing unit, a report queue and a received message queue. Therefore, any frame, including MPCP frames from/to the CPU can be sent or received, and a grant can be allocated statically according to a setting or dynamically according to a report from the ONUs.
