摘要： A method for controlling a production line for the manufacture and/or packaging of contact lenses which production line simultaneously processes at least two lots, the method comprising dividing at least a portion of the production line into a series of cells through which the contact lens pass sequentially, and providing a control system comprising at least three shift registers each containing information about each of said cells, including: (a) a location shift register which indicates whether a cell should be empty or occupied; (b) a lot data shift register which is a non-binary shift register and contains manufacturing and/or prescription data about the contact lens which should be in the cell and (c) a condition shift register which provides an indication of the condition of the product in the cell, and simultaneously indexing all of said shift registers as a lens passes down the production line from one cell to the next cell.

The three substations of lens release, lens inspection and lens deposit are annularly spaced 120~ from each other and three lenses may therefore be simultaneously processed through 120~ incremental movement of three pick and place heads.

摘要： There is disclosed a method for releasing a lens from a first surface 12A of a mould section 12, which has an annular shoulder 12E surrounding the first surfaces 12A and an annular wall 12C. The method includes providing an axially movable pin 28 on which a second surface of the mould section 12, opposite of surface 12A, may rest, raising the pin 28 to a stationary position in which the wall 12C is not directly supported and pressing a lens release head 19 and annulus 19A on top of section 12, with the annulus 19A abutting the shoulder 12E and the second surface remaining seated on pin 28, thereby deforming the mould section 12 for lens release. The head may be servo driven. The servo load parameters may be changed according to the lens type being processed. There is also provided a method for transferring the lens to a lens inspection substation followed by either a lens rejection or transferring the passed lens to a receptacle for subsequent lens processing and packaging. The three substations of lens release, lens inspection and lens deposit are annularly spaced 120 degrees from each other and three lenses may therefore be simultaneously processed through 120 degrees incremental movement of three pick and place fingers. A pallet for carrying the mould sections 12 is also disclosed.
