    • The invention relates in a first aspect to a process for the preparation of propylene oxide, comprising: (i) providing a reaction mixture comprising propylene, water, organic solvent, and hydrogen peroxide; (ii) contacting the reaction mixture provided in (i) in an epoxidation zone with an epoxidation catalyst comprising a zeolitic material having a framework structure comprising Si, O, and Ti, and subjecting the reaction mixture to epoxidation reaction conditions in the epoxidation zone, obtaining, in the epoxidation zone, a mixture comprising propylene oxide, water, and organic solvent; (iii) removing an effluent stream from the epoxidation zone, the effluent stream comprising propylene oxide, water, and organic solvent; wherein the reaction mixture provided in (i) and subjected to (ii) contains in an amount of at most 500 mg per kg hydrogen peroxide comprised in said reaction mixture at least one aliphatic oxygen containing compound having 8 to 10 carbon atoms. The invention further relates in a second aspect to a reaction mixture for preparing propylene oxide, comprising propylene, water, organic solvent, and hydrogen peroxide, wherein the reaction mixture comprises at least one aliphatic oxygen containing compound having 8 to 10 carbon atoms in an amount of at most 500 mg per kg hydrogen peroxide comprised in the reaction mixture. In a third aspect, the invention relates to a system comprising an epoxidation catalyst comprising a zeolitic material having a framework structure comprising Si, O, and Ti, and further comprising the reaction mixture comprising propylene, water, and organic solvent according to the second aspect. In a fourth aspect, the invention relates to the use of an aqueous hydrogen peroxide solution as epoxidation agent for preparing propylene oxide in the presence of an organic solvent and an epoxidation catalyst comprising a zeolitic material having a framework structure comprising Si, O, and Ti, wherein the aqueous hydrogen peroxide solution comprises at least one aliphatic oxygen containing compound having 8 to 10 carbon atoms in an amount of at most 500 mg per kg hydrogen peroxide comprised in the aqueous hydrogen peroxide solution.

    • The present invention relates in a first aspect to a process for the preparation of a liquid mixture comprising methanol, water and hydrogen peroxide, the process comprising: (i) providing a feed stream comprising methanol, and a feed stream comprising an aqueous hydrogen peroxide solution; (ii) combining the feed stream comprising the methanol and the feed stream comprising the aqueous hydrogen peroxide solution provided according to (i) at a point in time t1, so that a combined stream comprising methanol, hydrogen peroxide and water is obtained; (iii) filtrating the combined stream obtained according to (ii) at a point in time t2, through a filtration device, thereby obtaining a liquid mixture comprising methanol, hydrogen peroxide and water; wherein the period of time between t1 and t2 is at least 8 seconds. In a second aspect, the invention relates to the use of a liquid mixture obtained or obtainable from the process of the first aspect for the preparation of propylene oxide. A third aspect of the invention is directed to a method for the preparation of propylene oxide comprising: (i) providing a feed stream comprising methanol, a feed stream comprising an aqueous hydrogen peroxide solution and a feed stream comprising propylene; (ii) combining the feed stream comprising the methanol and the feed stream comprising the aqueous hydrogen peroxide solution provided according to (i) at a point in time t1, so that a combined stream comprising methanol, hydrogen peroxide and water is obtained; (iii) filtrating the combined stream obtained according to (ii) at a point in time t2, through a filtration device, thereby obtaining a liquid mixture comprising methanol, hydrogen peroxide and water; (iv) combining the feed stream comprising propylene either with the combined stream obtained in (ii) or with the liquid mixture obtained in (iii), thereby obtaining a liquid mixture comprising methanol, hydrogen peroxide, water and propylene; (v) bringing the liquid mixture obtained according to (iv) in an epoxidation zone in contact with an epoxidation catalyst comprising a zeolitic material having a framework structure comprising Si, O, and Ti under epoxidation reaction conditions, thereby obtaining in the epoxidation zone a mixture comprising propylene oxide, methanol and water; wherein the period of time between t1 and t2 are at least 8 seconds. In a fourth aspect, the invention relates to propylene oxide, obtained or obtainable from the method according to the third aspect.

    • In a first aspect, the present invention relates to a shutdown method for a process for preparing an olefin oxide comprising a normal run stage, wherein the normal run stage comprises providing olefin, hydrogen peroxide and organic solvent into an epoxidation zone comprising an heterogeneous epoxidation catalyst, so that a reaction mixture comprising olefin, hydrogen peroxide and organic solvent is formed and subjecting the reaction mixture to epoxidation reaction conditions in the epoxidation zone, thereby obtaining a mixture comprising olefin oxide and organic solvent; wherein the shutdown method comprises (a) providing olefin and organic solvent for a period of time t1 to the epoxidation zone, so that a mixture is formed, which is essentially free of hydrogen peroxide; (b) contacting the mixture from (a) over t1 under epoxidation reaction conditions in the epoxidation zone with the heterogeneous epoxidation catalyst; (c) removing during t1 an effluent stream from the epoxidation zone, the effluent stream comprising olefin and organic solvent. In a second aspect, the present invention relates to a process for preparing an olefin oxide comprising a normal run stage and a shutdown stage, wherein the normal run stage comprises (A) providing olefin, hydrogen peroxide, water and organic solvent into an epoxidation zone comprising an heterogeneous epoxidation catalyst, so that a reaction mixture comprising olefin, hydrogen peroxide, water and organic solvent is formed; (B) subjecting the reaction mixture from (I) to epoxidation reaction conditions in the epoxidation zone, thereby obtaining a mixture comprising olefin oxide, water and organic solvent; (C) removing an effluent stream from the epoxidation zone, comprising olefin oxide, water and organic solvent; wherein the shutdown stage comprises steps (a), (b) and (c) as described with respect to the first aspect.
