    • A shoe press belt capable of preventing the occurrence and growth of cracks therein and is used in a paper-making press apparatus containing a press roll, a belt, and a pressure shoe for pressing a material web, wherein the shoe press belt includes a reinforcing layer, a first elastic material layer, and a second elastic material layer. A plurality of grooves are formed at an exterior peripheral surface region of the first elastic material layer. The bottom of the grooves at an axial end region of the belt corresponding to at least one of an end-proximate region in an axial direction of the pressure shoe and an end-proximate region in an axial direction of the press roll extends toward the reinforcing layer relative to the bottom of the grooves at a region other than the end region.

    • A press belt with occurrence of pinholes remarkably reduced as well as a manufacturing method of the press belt are provided. The press belt includes a reinforcing base material containing multifilaments that are impregnated with a bundling agent and an elastic material in which the reinforcing base material is buried. The manufacturing method is a method of manufacturing the aforementioned press belt. The reinforcing base material is preferably made of a woven fabric and the bundling agent preferably contains as its main component thermosetting resin. As the bundling agent, a bundling agent containing as its main component urethane-based resin is suitably used. For the reinforcing base material, organic fibers are preferably used. The bundling agent is preferably applied in the form of emulsion to the multifilaments or the reinforcing base material.

    • A double-sided coated substrate transport device (1) is described. A die head for front face coating (3) and a die head for back face coating (4) coat a coating liquid onto a substrate 1. A drying oven (5) dries the coating liquid applied to the substrate (1), to form coating films on the front and back faces of the substrate (1). A first and second rotating body unit (20A, 20B) are respectively furnished independently at widthwise edge sections of the substrate (1). Each of the first and second rotating body units has a free roller (21) and a drive roller (22) constituting a pair of rotating bodies, and a rotating body swivel section (23). The free roller (21) and the drive roller (22) grip the widthwise edge sections of the substrate (1) from the front and back sides. The rotating body swivel section (23) allows the orientation of the free roller (21) and the drive roller (22), respectively, to be modified separately for the first rotating body unit (20A) and the second rotating body unit (20B), so that the rotation axis of the free roller (21) and the drive roller (22) is inclined towards the downstream side in the substrate transport direction as seen from the outside in the substrate widthwise direction, with respect to a line perpendicular to the substrate transport direction.
