    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a gelatin gel that has improved mechanical properties and heat resistance without impairing excellent elasticity, sustained release properties, adhesiveness and temperature retention and surely controls change in shape, change in properties, solidification of surface and growth of mold. SOLUTION: The gelatin gel is prepared by dissolving a gelatin in a polyhydric alcohol as a solvent, allowing the solution to stand and cooling the solution. Ethylene glycol or propylene glycol is used as the solvent. A crosslinking agent may be added, if necessary. An aqueous solution of glutaraldehyde, a diluent of glutaraldehyde diluted with an organic compound, a bifunctional or polyfunctional epoxy compound such as ethylene glycol diglutar ether or a diluent of a bifunctional or polyfunctional epoxy compound diluted with an organic compound may be used as the crosslinking agent.     • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a gelatin fiber product having sufficient dynamic strength and further having sufficient water resistance in which the change is preferably not given to a molecular structure of gelatin and reagents used during production are not left in the gelatin fiber.
      SOLUTION: A gelatin solution is discharged as a yarn into a coagulating bath to prepare a gel-like fiber and stretching treatment of the fiber is carried out and remaining solution and solvent are removed from the resultant gelatin fiber precursor to produce the gelatin fiber and further, the resultant gelatin fiber is heat-treated or treated with glutaraldehyde to provide the gelatin fiber in which water resistance is enhanced.
