    • An aircraft window darkening system includes a movable slide that darkens an aircraft window when in a closed position and does not darken the aircraft window when in an open position. The darkening system also includes a motor which is coupled to the slide in order to move the slide. The motor may be attached to a window frame of an aircraft window. The slide may have a handle for moving the slide. The motor may be disposed behind a region covered by a frame cover and behind a holding ring, so that the motor is accessible from the aircraft cabin when the holding ring is removed.

    • A system for reducing the manual force required to move a lowerable shell of a luggage compartment in a passenger aircraft includes a load determination device for determining a load acting on the lowerable shell of the luggage compartment, and a state detection device for detecting whether the lowerable shell is in a closed position or an open position. The system also includes a force assisting device for applying a constant assisting force which opposes the load acting on the lowerable shell. The system further includes an actuating device adapted to move the force assisting device from a first inactive operating state to a second active operating state when the lowerable shell is in the open position and the load acting on the lowerable shell exceeds a predetermined threshold value.

    • The invention relates to a force supporting device (10) for providing a load-dependent supporting force, in particular for a lowerable overhead locker (12) in an aircraft. The device (10) comprises a bracket (20), whose one end is attached to a supporting structure so as to be pivotal about an axis (P) and whose other end is configured for connection to an object to which the supporting force should be applied. There is also a gas-filled spring (22), whose one end is pivotally articulated to the bracket (20) and whose other is pivotally articulated to one end of an oscillating lever (24), whose other end is pivotally attached to a bearing plate (18) and which can pivot relative to the bearing plate (18) between a first end position and a second end position. By means of an arresting device the oscillating lever (24) can be arrested at a plurality of positions in the region of its first end position to the second end position. A displacing device (46) serves to pivot the oscillating lever (24) between its first end position and its second end position as a function of a load determining device which interacts with the displacing device (46).
