摘要： Bleaching compositions are provided that comprise a nitrile containing compound that has the nitrile bonded to a quaternary nitrogen through a methylene unit (where one or both of the normal hydrogens can be substituted), and two of the quaternary nitrogen bonds are part of a saturated ring. This saturated ring contains from two to eight atoms in addition to the quaternary nitrogen. A source of active oxygen will react with the nitrile for bleaching applications. Particularly preferred nitrile containing compounds are N-alkyl morpholinium acetonitrile salts.

摘要： The present invention provides stable bleach activator granules comprising:(a) a peroxygen bleach activator having the structure: ##STR1## wherein R is C.sub.1-20 branched or straight chain alkyl, alkoxylated alkyl, cycloalkyl, alkenyl, aryl, substituted aryl, alkylaryl; R' and R" are independently H, C.sub.1-4 alkyl, aryl; and L is a leaving group;b) a pliable binding material selected from materials having a melting completion temperature of greater than about 40.degree. C.; andc) a solubilizing aid selected from the group consisting of magnesium sulfate, alkali aryl sulfonate, polyvinyl pyrrolidone or mixtures thereof.The invention can also include additional stiffeners, such as calcium or magnesium silicate, or silica.

摘要： A perhydrolysis system is provided which includes peroxyacid precursors and a source of peroxygen. Upon dissolution in water these compositions provide high yields of a novel peroxyacid having the structure ##STR1## where R is hydrogen or an alkyl of not more than 5 carbon atoms. The precursors may include hydroxyl nitrogen derivatives as leaving groups, since the .alpha.-substituted phenoxy moiety enhances carbonyl reactivity toward perhydroxyl anion.

摘要： Novel sulfonated phenyl esters of dicarboxylic acids are useful as diperoxyacid precursors in bleaching and laundering applications when combined with a source of peroxide. These diperoxyacid precursors can be produced by reacting a dicarboxylic acid, a phenol sulfonate, and a lower alkyl acid anhydride in an alkyl hydrocarbon solvent and removing a carboxylic acid byproduct through distillation. The diperoxyacid precursors have the structure: ##STR1## wherein n is an integer from about 4 to about 18 and M is an alkali metal, an alkaline earth metal, or ammonium. The diperoxyacid precursors have a high perhydrolysis profile coupled with a relatively low-to-moderate hydrolysis profile.

摘要： Polyglycolate compounds are provided having the general structure: ##STR1## wherein n is an integer from 2 to about 10; R is C.sub.1-20 linear or branched alkyl, alkoxylated alkyl, cycloalkyl, aryl, alkylaryl, substituted aryl; R' and R" are independently H, C.sub.1-20 alkyl, aryl, C.sub.1-20 alkylaryl, substituted aryl, and NR.sub.3.sup..alpha.+, wherein R.sup..alpha. is C.sub.1-30 alkyl; and L is a leaving group displaceable in a peroxygen bleaching solution by perhydroxide anion. When this compound is combined with a source of peroxygen in aqueous solution, then a plurality of stain removing peracids are formed. Such peracids are formed substantially sequentially beginning with the carbonyl adjacent to the leaving group L. Thus, a first stain removing peracid having the structure ##STR2## will be formed in amounts approaching quantitative yield.

摘要： This invention relates to dyes which are resistant to hypochlorite attack, exemplary of which are anthraquinone dyes of the general formula: ##STR1## wherein X.sub.1, X.sub.2, X.sub.3, X.sub.4, R.sub.5, R.sub.6, R.sub.7, and R.sub.8 are defined within the specification. The invention also relates to hydrophobic latex particles, such as polyethylene, in which such dyes are deposited. A combined liquid bleaching and dyeing composition is disclosed which includes the aforementioned particles in hypochlorite liquid bleach at a pH above about 11. This composition has sufficiently long shelf life for the purposes of ordinary commerce.

摘要： A process is provided for the preparation of a compound having the structure of Formula I The process includes reacting a heterocyclic amine with a monoaldehyde or a dialdehyde in a pH range of from about 8 to 14 and then quaternizing the so-reacted heterocyclic amine with an alkylating agent at a pH of not less than about 2. The use of pH control substantially prevents formation of an undesirable protonated reaction intermediate.
