    • A structurally simplified brake system which increases its functional reliability. The brake system has a brake pressure line extending between a master brake cylinder and a wheel brake. A shutoff valve is connected in parallel with a pressure limiting valve disposed in the brake line. A high-pressure pump toward the wheel brake side is capable of feeding pressure fluid into the line when the shutoff valve is closed. If a response pressure of the pressure limiting valve is exceeded, the pressure fluid can be diverted back to the master cylinder. The shutoff valve has a valve seat toward the wheel brake and a closing member toward the master cylinder which closing member is capable, by the action of a magnetic force on an armature of engaging the valve seat. A compression spring is disposed between the armature and the closing member and in the valve closing position exerts a closing force, adapted to the response pressure, upon the closing member. The shutoff valve and the pressure limiting valve are thus attained in a single valve unit.

The invention provides that the first and second magnet valves have structurally identical, one-piece valve housings, in each of which all the magnet valve components are received essentially without any axial protrusion, and that the total length of each of the first and second magnet valves is recessed in the receiving bores of the valve block, and that a nonferromagnetic spacer ring is disposed between a face end, pointing toward the valve seat, of at least one magnet coil and a dividing plane between this magnet coil and the associated pole piece.

    • A method and apparatus for the pyrometallurgical treatment of fine grained solids such as non-ferrous metal ore concentrates with an oxygen-containing gas wherein the solids are mixed with the gas to form a suspension which is blown through a nozzle into a reaction chamber such as a vertical melting cyclone. In the reaction chamber, the solids are brought to reaction and melted. The invention is concerned with injecting a particle stream through the reaction zone as a focused open jet having mass flow velocity of greater than 50 kg/m.sup.2.sec and having a linear speed of more than 35 m/sec. The particle stream is ignited by the hot combustion gases thereof or by a pilot flame. In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the particle stream is directed along a horizontal secant of the chamber to the opposite wall.
