    • A disk array system has a disk storage group, an array controller reading/writing data of the group, a disk interface connecting unit having a plurality of ports for connection with the controller and the group, and a disk interface connection changing unit. In an array configuration information memory, information indicating a relation between the controller and the group is stored. An array configuration changing portion changes the array configuration information in response to a user's request. A connection changing interface informs the changing unit of a connection change based on the changed array configuration information. The changing unit sends instruction information on setting up the connection status among the ports to the connecting unit to establish the configuration indicated by the array configuration information. The connecting unit changes the port connection according to the instruction information sent from the changing unit.

In a disk array system according to the present invention, a control unit includes: a host input/output unit that exchanges data and a control signal with a host connected to a disk array system; a disk input/output unit that exchanges data and a control signal with a disk; a cache memory that temporarily stores the data during transfer between the host input/output unit and the disk input/output unit in units of segments that are each formed by a plurality of blocks having a predetermined size; an MPU that controls an operation of the control unit by executing a control program; and a cache controller that controls input/output of the data into/from the cache memory, and the host input/output unit transfers, to the cache controller, transfer information containing the guarantee codes of the first blocks of the segments relating to the data transfer.

    • A disk storage system containing a storage device having a record medium for holding the data, a plurality of storage sub-systems having a controller for controlling the storage device, a first interface node coupled to a computer using the data stored in the plurality of storage sub-systems, a plurality of second interface nodes connected to the storage sub-systems, a switch connecting to a first interface node and a plurality of second interface nodes to perform frame transfer therebetween based on node address information added to the frame. The first interface node has a configuration table to store structural information for the memory storage system and in response to the frame sent from the computer, analyzes the applicable frame, converts information relating to the transfer destination of that frame based on structural information held in the configuration table, and transfers that frame to the switch.
