摘要： An apparatus, system, and method enable a new platform storage system to have access to an external storage system having data encrypted thereon by an existing platform storage system. Encryption information corresponding to the encrypted data in the external storage system is stored in a memory in the existing platform storage system. The encryption information stored in the memory of the existing platform storage system is transferred to an encryption table stored in the new platform storage system, so that the new platform storage system can read the encrypted data stored in the external storage system.

In response to changes in contents of operation to alter a storage configuration such as in creating or deleting a volume or LUN, contents of the alteration are reflected in the database of iSNS or SLP. Also, in response to a change in setting of LUN masking, a discovery domain of iSNS or attribute values of SLP are updated so that the host computer can discover the disk volume. Also, objects and services are reregistered periodically according to a registration period of iSNS or lifetime of SLP to prevent registered contents from expiring.

A management server 2200 obtains a port management TL 2445 that the old storage device 2400 has, through a LAN 2600 which is separated from a Fiber Channel network which is utilized for data communication. Also, through the LAN 2600, a port list TL 2555 is obtained from the new storage device 2500. And, then, on the basis of the port list TL 2555, a port of the new storage device 2500, which is utilized for an access to a volume of the old storage device, is selected. And, on the basis of the port management TL 2445, on a port of the selected new storage device 2500, it is set up that access restriction information of a port of the old storage device 2400 to which a volume, of which the port is utilized for an access, is assigned.

In one exemplary implementation, the tiered storage system receives a data access request corresponding to a file from the at least one client; determines the identity of the requesting client; determines an original tier of the file; determines a target tier to which the file should be migrated to; and if the original tier and the target tier are different, migrates the file from the original tier to the target tier.

摘要： Embodiments of the invention provide methods and apparatus for improving the performance of file transfer to a client from a distributed storage system which provides single name space to clients. In one embodiment, a system for providing access to files in a distributed storage system comprises a plurality of storage nodes and at least one computer device connected via a network. Each storage node is configured, upon receiving a file access request for a file from one of the at least one computer device as a receiver storage node, to determine whether or not to inform the computer device making the file access request to redirect the file access request to an owner storage node of the file according to a preset policy. The preset policy defines conditions for whether to redirect the file access request based on at least one of file type or file size of the file.

Storage management information of the management computer stores a correspondence between an identifier of a volume group, and a identifier of the user. When a plurality of volumes are designated as a managed object of the user, the management computer references the storage management information, and obtains, from the storage, an identifier of the volume group to which the plurality of designated volumes belong. Next, the management computer references the storage management information, and determines whether or not the obtained volume group is in management range of the same user.
