      SOLUTION: The controller of a vehicle is provided with: a transmission connected to the engine 11 so as to change a power transmitting state by engagement with frictional engagement elements; and a parking lock mechanism 17 for switching between a locked state in which an output shaft of the transmission is locked and an unlocked state in which the locked state is released by a hydraulic pressure input through an oil hole 41. When the locked state is switched to the unlocked state, the parking lock mechanism 17 maintains the unlocked state by restricting switching from the unlocked state to the locked state by a tapered member 51 and a plurality of ball-like members 52 provided in a cylinder 31, and releases the restriction by the hydraulic pressure inputted through the oil hole 42.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic transmission in which oil is prevented from jetting through a breather hole by stabilizing the pressure in a case.
      SOLUTION: In this automatic transmission, the breather hole allowing the inside of the case to communicate with the atmosphere to supply and discharge air according to the difference between the pressure in the case and the atmosphere is formed at the upper part of the case in which a shift mechanism is installed. The automatic transmission comprises a control part U having a heavy-load operation determination means 36 for determining the presence or absence of heavy-load operation information and a line-pressure control means 30 for so outputting a command signal to a hydraulic control device 17 that a regulator valve 18 can hold a line pressure at a predetermined high pressure when the heavy-load operation determination means 36 determines that the heavy-load operation information is present. Since the pressure in the case can be held constant by holding the line pressure at a constant pressure, the oil is prevented from jetting through the breather hole.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a breather device for an automatic transmission discharging, into the atmosphere, high-pressure air flowing from a case into a breather chamber, and smoothly returning to the case, oil flowing into the breather chamber together with the high-pressure air.
      SOLUTION: The breather device 20 for an automatic transmission has a main body part 21 attached to an upper part of a case. The case houses a power transmission mechanism part together with an ATF. A breather chamber 22 is formed in the main body part 21. The main body part 21 is provided with: a first connecting pipe 24 connected with a communication hole disposed to the upper part of the case to communicate the inside of the case with the breather chamber 22; and a second connecting pipe 25 communicating the breather chamber 22 with the air at a position above the first connecting pipe 24 in a perpendicular direction and separated in a horizontal direction. A downward inclination is formed to an inner bottom face 22c of the breather chamber 22. The downward inclination leads the ATF flowing into the breather chamber 22 through the first connecting pipe 24, to the first connecting pipe 24 side.
