    • An armature winding apparatus and method for winding coils of wire onto an armature defining an uneven number of radial slots. The apparatus has first and second flyers (110,111) for respectively winding first and second wires on the armature. First guide means are aligned with the first slot for guiding the first wire into the first slot. Second guide means are aligned with the second slot for guiding the second wire into the second slot. Third and fourth guide means (114',115') are aligned with the third slot for guiding the first and second wires into the third slot. The apparatus is configured to wind the first wire and maintain the second wire stationary, and to wind the second wire while maintaining the first winder stationary. This provides for consistent placement of wire coils on the armature.

    • A device for the positioning and the quick replacement of pieceholder pallets in a working station is installed along a pallet feed line formed by two parallel rotating belts on which the pallets, retained by side shoulders, move towards a working station in which each pallet is locked by energized electromagnets in face of which there are disposed magnetizable stop members for stopping the pallets; provided in the working station are guides on which the pallets rest when being temporarily moved away from the underlying continuously rotating belts; an air cylinder, provided with retractable projections arranged to cooperate with corresponding seats of the pallets, may be extended for a stroke equal to the longitudinal dimension of each pallet∞ addition,the extension force of the cylinder is lower than the pallet locking force exerted by the electromagnet, so that it is connected to the pallet situated upstream the pallet positioned in the working station, and is actuated to exert a pushing action onto the pallet to which it is connected in the working station while the electromagnet is still energized, thus instantaneously imparting a translation movement to the pallet to which it is connected within the working station and to the pallet which precedes it outside said working station, as soon as the electromagnet is de-energized.

    • A resin coating system includes a coating station (15) for applying resin to dynamo-electric machine components such as electric motor armatures, one or more other stations (12) adjacent to the coating station, a conveyor (14) for transporting components through the coating station where the components (22) are carried by holders (23) holding at least one end of the components without touching the body portion of the components, another conveyor (10) for transporting components through the other stations (12) where the components are carried by holders supporting the body portion of the components, and a transfer device (13) for transferring uncoated and coated components between the two conveyors. The holders attached to the conveyor in the coating station are capable of rotating the components about the longitudinal axis of each component during the coating operation for an even application of the resin to the component. The holders attached to the conveyor for transporting armatures through the other stations are of simpler and less expensive construction. Prior to resin application, the components may be heated (11) by electrical resistance heating of their coils and by electromagnetic induction heating of their ferromagnetic cores.
