摘要： A device for continuous casting of metal, comprising an electromagnetic brake that includes at least one downwardly open mould comprising cooled copper plates (1a, 1b) that form a chilled casting mould with a rectangular cross section, wherein said mould is adapted to be supplied with an incoming primary flow of melt. Magnets (4) are adapted to generate at least one static or periodic low-frequency magnetic field to act in the path of the inflowing melt and to split up the primary flow as well as to control possible secondary flows. Each magnet (4) comprises at least one magnetically conducting core (5, 6, 7, 8) and at least one yoke (13), which together with the magnetically conducting cores forms a magnetic circuit. The magnetically conducting cores are arranged close to the long sides (1a) of the mould and the magnets (4) are arranged to be movable in one plane .
