    • PURPOSE: A liquid crystal display and a driving method thereof are provided to implement an impulsive driving method by simplifying a logic circuit and a control algorithm of a timing controller. CONSTITUTION: An LCD panel comprises a common electrode. A timing controller generates a first and a second gate start pulses, a gate shift clock, a gate timing control signal, and a data timing control signal. The gate timing control signal comprises a first and a second gate output enable signals. The data timing control signal comprises a first and a second source output enable signals. A data driving circuit applies a straight polar/negative polar analog image data voltage to the data lines. The data driving circuit supplies a straight polar/negative polar black voltage to the data lines. A first gate drive IC(integrated circuit) supplies a gate pulse to the gate lines. The gate lines are included in a first block of the LCD panel. A second gate drive IC(integrated circuit) supplies a gate pulse to the gate lines. The gate lines are included in a second block of the LCD panel.
