    • An apparatus and a method for controlling an optical output in an ONU(Optical Network Unit) are provided to operate an overall PON(Passive Optical Network) system stably by preventing an influence of malfunction of a laser diode on other normally operating ONUs. An optical transmission module(310) transmits an optical signal including data inserted into an allocated time slot to an OLT(Optical Line Termination)(100). An optical output control module(330) detects the transmitted optical signal. If the optical signal is detected for longer than a pre-set time, the optical output control module controls to prevent the optical signal transmitted to the OLT. An optical detecting unit(332) detects the optical signal transmitted from the optical transmission module to the OLT. If the detect time of the optical signal in the optical detecting unit is longer than the pre-set time, a controller(334) determines that the optical transmission module malfunctions and prevent an optical output of the optical transmission module.

    • PURPOSE: A method for authenticating a public key without an authentication server and an apparatus thereof are provided to increase security by authenticating a public key based on a password displayed on the screen of a device. CONSTITUTION: A password, a first value, and a public key of a second device are received from a second device(310). The password is displayed on the screen of the second device. The first value is generated based on the public key of the second device. A second value is generated based on the public key of the second device and the password inputted in a first device(320). The public key of the second device is authenticated based on the first value and the second value.

    • PURPOSE: A multimedia data reproducing method and device thereof are provided to control a variable reproduction speed based on data receiving speed after starting the reproduction. CONSTITUTION: A multimedia replaying device(100) includes a monitoring unit(110), a rate control unit(120), and a reproducing unit(130). The monitoring unit calculates packet receiving speed which is required to control the reproduction speed. The rate control unit controls reproduction speed of multimedia data based on the difference between a first and a second time which are calculated in a monitoring unit. The reproducing unit reproduces multimedia data according to the reproduction speed controlled in the rate control unit.
