    • PURPOSE: A frequency error detector and frequency error combiner in the receiving block of a UMTS(Universal Mobile Telecommunication System) is provided to present a frequency error detector and frequency error combiner hardly influenced by fading. CONSTITUTION: An AFC(Automatic Frequency Control) in a UE(User Equipment) of a UMTS comprises an analog part(100) and a digital part(200). The digital part(200) is comprised of despreading parts(202,220), integrate and dump parts(204,224), antenna pattern cancellation parts(206,226), 2-symbol accumulators(208,228), a frequency error detector and frequency error combiner(210), a frequency multiplier(212), a loop filter(214), a D/A converter(216), and a local oscillator(118). The despreading parts(202,220) multiply the data, spread using a channelization code at the transmitting block of a base station, by the same code. The integrate and dump parts(204,224) integrate and dump the output of the despreading parts(202,220) during appointed intervals. The antenna pattern cancellation parts(206,226) remove antenna patterns from the signals outputted from the integrate and dump parts(204,224). The 2-symbol accumulators(208,228) accumulate the despread data for a specific time and output the accumulated data. The frequency error detector and frequency error combiner(210) determines a frequency offset value by the values supplied from the 2-symbol accumulators(208,228) and outputs a frequency offset detection value. The loop filter(214) filters and outputs the frequency offset detection value. The D/A converter(216) converts the digital frequency offset detection value, provided from the loop filter(214), into an analog signal and outputs it to the local oscillator(118).

    • PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for receiving a channel signal encoded by a time space transmission diversity scheme in a CDMA(Code Division Multiple Access) communication system are provided to quickly detect a pilot signal and a TPC(Transport Power Control) signal of a DPCH(Dedicated Physical CHannel) signal without performing an STTD(Space Time block coding based Transmit Diversity) decoding corresponding to an STTD encoding when receiving the DPCH signal. CONSTITUTION: The first antenna signal processing unit including a multiplexer(711) and an accumulator(715) receives a signal transmitted from a transmitter, and processes the received signal as a signal transmitted from the first antenna using the predetermined first pattern. The second antenna signal processing unit including a multiplexer(751) and an accumulator(755) processes the received signal as a signal transmitted from the second antenna using the second pattern which has orthogonality with the first pattern. An adder(730) combines a signal outputted from the first antenna signal processing with a signal outputted from the second antenna signal processing unit, and generates power control information.
