    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a refrigerator having further reduced cost while improving its cooler defrosting reliability and energy saving property.
      SOLUTION: In the refrigerator, the cooler 3 is formed by bending a refrigerant pipe to which a plurality of flat fins are fixed at predetermined spaces, into a meandering fashion to form a plurality of stages of fin blocks and then fixing both ends in the laminating direction of the fins with side plates. The cooler 3 is installed in a cooler chamber 18 so that the plurality of stages of fin blocks are arranged up and down and the fins are parallel to one another in the direction of the depth of the refrigerator. The size the fin of the lowest stage of fin block in the direction of the depth of the refrigerator is smaller than the size of the fin of the other in the direction of the depth of the refrigerator. The fin of the lowest stage of fin block is set aside to an inner box 14 to form a frost forming space between a fan grill 15 and the lowest stage of fin block. Thus, cold air from a cold air return port first flows into the frost forming space.
