    • One embodiment provides a reproduction control device including: a first receiving module configured to receive addresses of plural respective content data that correspond to each other in substance but are different from each other in usable functions and first function information indicating sets of usable functions of the plural respective content data; a second receiving module configured to receive second function information indicating functions supported by an external device; a selecting module configured to select a function to be used in playing back; and a sending module configured to determine content data that allow the external device to use the selected function according to the first and second function information, and to send an address of the determined content data to the external device.

    • According to one embodiment, a content transmission apparatus includes a data acquisition module configured to get a content item and metadata having a plurality of items for explaining details of the content, a notification module configured to notify an upload destination apparatus for the content of the metadata, a transmission module configured to encode the content and transmits the encoded content as a body of an upload request based on an HTTP POST request to an entry point created by a content reception apparatus on the basis of the metadata, a detection module configured to detect a change in metadata notified to the content reception apparatus relative to metadata newly got by the data acquisition module, and a posterior notification module configured to notify the content reception apparatus of posterior metadata containing at least a changed item in the metadata, when the detection module detects a change in the metadata.

    • According to an aspect of the present invention, there is provided with a data transmission method that uses first and second media devices which communicate with each other according to a predetermined transmission protocol and a control device which controls the first and second media devices based on a UPnP AV protocol, including: establishing a virtual connection between the first and second media devices under control of the control device; transmitting a real connection establishment request from the first media device to the second media device, the real connection establishment request including information of the virtual connection; establishing a real connection between the first and second media devices, the established real connection being related to the virtual connection; and transmitting media data from the second media device to the first media device or versa by using the established real connection.
