    • A tip-off cap and closure for a container, for closure thereof, and sealing of the contents therein. The cap includes a narrow elongated exterior top portion, a peripherally enlarged open bottom skirt at the bottom thereof, and a container closure for an access opening, operatively disposed within the skirt and operatively integrated therewith. The integrated cap and closure are conjointly removable from the container, to open the container for access to the liquid therein, by application of a lateral tilting force against the narrow, elongated cap exterior at a position thereof remote from connection of the cap to the container. Removal of the integrated cap and closure seal means from the container is normally effected without breakage of the material forming the container. The cap and closure act as a unit assembly when being removed. The construction is designed to generally assimilate currently known and used glass ampules for medicaments, in configuration and use, and to have a similar opening procedure thereto.

    • A tamper-proof ring for securing a closure over the open end of a container. The closure and container has a projection engageable by the ring which comprises an annular member which before application to a container-closure assembly has a generally cylindrical section of a diameter slightly greater than the greatest transverse dimension of the container. The closure projection and a radially inwardly directed flange at one end of the cylindrical section define a plurality of circumferentially spaced, generally axial score lines extending from the edge of the cylindrical section opposite the one end and terminates at the juncture of the flange and cylindrical section.

    • A tamper-proof seal for a container having at least one circumferentially extending flange adjacent the discharge opening therein comprising an annular top and a circumferentially extending skirt depending from the top adapted to be crimped at its lower terminal edge to engage under the flange to hold it on the container. A pull ring connects to the annular portion by a throat portion and partial score lines extend across the annular top portion on either side of the pull ring and define a plurality of circumferentially spaced score lines extending from the lower edge of the skirt upwardly in an axial direction to a point closely adjacent the juncture of the skirt and annular top portion. The axial score lines are spaced closely about the skirt.

    • A container-closure assembly. The container has a discharge opening, a locking flange of generally circular opening with a frusto conical side face diverging downwardly from the axial end face of the opening. A shaping surface is formed below the locking flange of non-circular cross section and has a maximum cross section less than the cross section of the locking flange and at least one cam member extends axially downwardly from the locking flange. The cap of the assembly has a top and a peripheral skirt portion engaging under the locking flange and extending at least to the juncture of the locking flange and shaping surface. The cap is of a deformable material whereby the skirt is shaped to a generally circular shape by the cam member upon relative rotation of the cap and container.

    • Disclosed is a stopper for use with containers to provide needleless access to the container with a cannula having a blunt penetrating tip. Also disclosed is a system comprising the stopper, container and cannula. The stopper includes a disc having an upper face and a lower face, and a plug extending from the disc into the container. Also included is a diaphragm, defined by a target region in the upper face and a cross channel in the disc for controlling the force needed to penetrate the stopper with the cannula. The plug includes a first inward surface for guiding the cannula and a second inward surface for engaging the cannula to minimize wetting of the outside of the cannula. In a preferred embodiment, the first surface extends down from the cross channel on the lower side of the disc, radially outwardly to a maximum diameter and the second inwardly facing surface extends down from the first surface radially inwardly to a minimum diameter to form the cannula seal. Also shown is a centrally located piercing point positioned to pre-slit the diaphragm. An overcap may be provided to alternatively have an axially aligned boss and bore positioned to pre-slit the diaphragm. In another embodiment, the invention includes an annular pre-slit disc formed of self sealing material and positioned to reduce spray back when inserting or removing the cannula.
