    • An electrical connector assembly is provided including first and second circuit boards proximate each other and each having a first side and a second side. The electrical connector assembly includes flex circuits electrically connected to the first and second sides of the first and second circuit boards and carrying electrical signals therebetween. The electrical connector assembly includes load cells having at least one bowed spring, a base plate, and a cover plate. The spring has a peak portion and end portions and is compressed between the base and cover plates. The peak portion engages one of the base and cover plates with the end portions engaging another of the base and cover plates to exert a load force on the base and cover plates. The load cells are aligned opposite each other on the first and second circuit boards and retain the flex circuits thereto.

    • An electrical interconnect device includes a frame having frame walls that define a socket that extends along a socket axis between an open top and an open bottom of the frame. The socket is configured to receive an electronic package through the open top. The electrical interconnect device also includes a contact assembly having an insulative carrier that holds an array of conductive elastomeric columns with each of the elastomeric columns having opposite first and second ends. The elastomeric columns are internally conductive between the first and second ends. The elastomeric columns are configured to electrically interconnect the electronic package to a second electronic component. The insulative carrier is configured to float within the frame in a direction generally parallel to the socket axis.

    • A load cell is provided for interconnecting first to second structures with a desired amount of force. The load cell includes a screw that has a body. The body includes a threaded portion along a first end and a head at a second end opposite the first end. The load cell includes a spring received over the body. The spring has first and second ends opposite one another and is configured to exert a desired amount of force when compressed. The load cell includes a spring retention member that has an opening therethrough receiving the body of the screw. The spring retention member includes a bushing secured to at least one of the spring and the body and a washer that extends outward from the bushing. The first and second ends of the spring press against the washer and the head respectively.

    • Several different types of electrical switches are disclosed. In one particular embodiment, an electrical switch is disclosed comprising: a molded case having a pair of conductive terminal contacts; and a molded actuator for mating with the case. The actuator is movable between a conducting position and a non-conducting position within the case, and the actuator has at least one spring member and a conductive contact surface. The spring member forces the actuator into the non-conducting position, and the conductive contact surface provides an electrical connection between the pair of conductive terminal contacts when the actuator is in the conducting position. The actuator is retained within the case by a retaining member and/or a snap member. The case and the actuator are molded about the conductive terminal contacts and the spring members, respectively. Furthermore, the conductive contact surface is formed of a conductive elastomer that is grafted to the actuator. In other embodiments, the spring members are molded as a part of the actuator or the case, or the spring members are connected to the conductive contact surface or the conductive terminal contacts with the actuator and the case being molded thereabout, respectively.

    • An electrical interconnect device includes a substrate that has opposite first and second outer surfaces. Arrays of conductive elastomeric columns are held by the substrate. Each of the columns has opposite first and second ends. The elastomeric columns are internally conductive between the first and second ends. A shield is mounted exterior of the first outer surface of the substrate with the shield having an insulative carrier that holds an array of conductive pads arranged in a complementary pattern as the array of elastomeric columns. The conductive pads have inner surfaces and outer surfaces. The shield is positioned relative to the substrate such that the inner surfaces of the conductive pads engage the first ends of corresponding elastomeric columns. The outer surfaces are configured to engage corresponding mating contacts of an electrical component.

    • A high-speed connector for interconnecting circuit boards to a backplane or interconnecting a mother board to daughter board. The connector includes a housing, biasing elements, a flex film, conductive elastomeric contact modules and biasing modules. The conductive elastomeric contact modules comprise a substrate which includes a plurality of individual conductive elastomeric contacts such as Metallized Particle Interconnect (MPI), or a polymer containing a plurality of conductive particles disposed therein. The first side of the conductive elastomeric contact modules interface to the flex film, and the second side of the conductive elastomeric contact module interface to a printed circuit board (PCB) set of contacts. Alternately, the conductive elastomeric contacts could be molded directly onto the flex film to eliminate the conductive elastomeric contact modules. The flex film includes conductive traces for providing electrical communication from a first conductive elastomeric contact module to a second conductive elastomeric contact module. The flex film could be realized as a multilayer film and include ground planes and/or strip line traces. Further, the conductive elastomeric contact modules could also include power and ground contacts.
