    • Real-time calibration of a tunable matching network (242) that matches the dynamic impedance of an antenna (202) in a radio frequency receiver system (240) is disclosed. The tuning algorithm in the radio frequenzy system (240) includes two non-linear equations that may be solved to determine the reflection coefficient of the antenna. The tunable matching network (242) is repeatedly pertubed and the power received by the antenna (202) is measured after each pertubation at the same node (power detector 246) in the matching network (242). The measured power values (222) are used by an optimizer (216) in converging to a solution that provides the reflection coefficient of the antenna. The reflection of the antenna may be used to determine the input impedance of the antenna. The elements of the matching circuit (242) are then adjusted to match the input impedance of the antenna (202). Thus, effects of changes in the environment of the antenna (202) affecting the impedance may be compensated in realtime.
