Wheel guards and obstruction - removers. -A series of guards is arranged in line transversely of the vehicle, each guard being capable of an independent vertical movement, and each partaking of the movement of the steering - wheels. To each steering-axle end a is secured a bar b carrying the corresponding end guard f, and the intermediate guards f are carried by other bars b which are pivoted at b to cross-rods b , of which the ends are pivoted to the side bars b. Each guard f is pivoted at e to a frame comprising two members d connected by crossbars d , d , and is controlled by a spring g connected to the bar d . The rear portion d of each member d is mounted to slide in guides carried by the forked end c of the corresponding bar b. An arm h, pivoted to the bar b, carries a roller h at its end, and carries also laterally-extending brackets h to which are pivoted arms h carrying rollers i. The arm h is connected to the cross-bar d by a link j, and the movement of the arms h is limited by cross-pieces i', h carried by the brackets h . When an obstruction is encountered, the guard is depressed into contact with the arms h , and the rollers i contact with the road. When a projecting inequality in the road is encountered, the rollers i first come into contact with it, and if the height of the projection is considerable the roller h also comes into contact with it, whereupon the arm h is swung upon its pivot and the members d move upwards in their guides.

    • 22,160. Simpson, H. T. P. Oct. 1. [Addition to 236/13.] Wheel-guards and obstruction-removers of the type described in the parent Specification. The end units are carried by members adapted to move with the swivelling axle-ends, and the inner units are pivotally supported by the main axle, and are connected with the steering- mechanism so as to turn with the steering- wheels. Each end unit a, Fig. 4, is pivoted at h to brackets carried by the depending arms g of a plate g secured to a vertical pin g, which turns with the swivelling movement of the axle-ends, Arms i integral with the arms g are connected by the transverse steering-bar i . Each inner unit a, Fig. 3, is pivoted at c to a frame that is pivoted at c to a bar d clamped beneath the main axle e . The frame is extended beyond the pivot as shown at j and is jointed to a bar j', which is pivoted to a curved bar clamped to the steering-bar i . Springs k , g are provided to hold the units a normally clear of the ground, and each unit is provided with a pivoted extension b fitted with a roller x along its forward edge. The end units a may be shaped to extend in front of the wheels; or separate guards for this purpose may he carried by the arms g .

    • In embodiments of the present invention improved capabilities are described for a computer program product embodied in a computer readable medium that, when executing on one or more computers, helps determine an unknown user's preferences through the use of internet based social interactive graphical representations on a computer facility by performing the steps of (1) ascertaining preferences of a plurality of users who are part of an internet based social interactive construct, wherein the plurality of users become a plurality of known users; (2) determining the internet based social interactive graphical representation for the plurality of known users; and (3) inferring the preferences of an unknown user present in the internet based social interactive graphical representation of the plurality of known users based on the interrelationships between the unknown user and the plurality of known users within the graphical representation.
