    • An apparatus for controlling a flow of evaporated fuel from a canister being fed into an intake passage of an engine through a plurality of control valves arranged in parallel in a purge passage between the canister and the intake passage. The plurality of control valves includes at least a first valve being switched on and off by setting a control factor indicating a duty ratio of an on-time within a duty cycle to a total duty-cycle time for the first valve, and a second valve being switched on and off by setting a control factor indicating an on-state or off-state of the second valve for a total duty-cycle time. The apparatus includes a first control part for setting a first control factor for the first valve so that the first valve is switched on at a rate indicated by the first control factor, and a second control part for setting a second control factor for the second valve so that the second valve is switched on and off at a timing different from a timing at which the first valve is switched on and off.

    • A variable venturi-type carburetor comprising a suction piston which has a tip face defining a venturi portion. The tip face has a projecting tip face portion located upstream of the needle and projecting toward the venturi portion. A groove, extending along the axis of the intake passage of the carburetor, is formed on the projecting tip face portion. The projecting tip face portion has a V-shaped cross-section which expands from the groove toward the venturi portion. A projection, having a V-shaped cross-section, is formed on the inner wall of the intake passage, which faces the tip face of the intake passage, which faces the tip face of the suction piston. The projection enters into the V-shaped cross-section of the projecting tip face portion of the suction piston when the amount of air fed into the cylinder of the engine is small.

    • A variable venturi type carburetor includes a suction chamber, a suction piston moveable into and out of the chamber, a metering needle attached to the head portion of the suction piston, the needle being faced by a metering jet. The carburetor also includes a throttle valve. The head portion confronts the venturi section at the upstream side of the throttle valve. The head portion is obliquely cut or shaped at one side, which faces the throttle valve, and desirably is so positioned relative to the throttle valve that at least a portion of the throttle valve pivots during opening movement within space vacated by the obliquely cut or shaped piston portion as the piston moves in an opening direction.

    • Disclosed is a variable venturi type carburetor which is provided with a suction piston movable in a direction perpendicular to an air flow, in accordance with changes in the air flow, so as to vary the area of a venturi opening formed between the bottom end of the suction piston and a wall of the carburetor body facing the bottom end of the suction piston, for maintaining the speed of the air flow passing through the venturi opening substantially constant. The suction piston has a hole formed therein communicating the venturi opening with a suction chamber in which the suction piston is moved. The carburetor has a spring for urging the suction piston, but does not have any oil damper within the suction chamber. The shape of the venturi opening is so arranged that the increase of the area of the venturi opening in accordance with the displacement of the suction piston is gradually increased. As a result, fluctuation due to the resonance and wide fluctuation caused during the transient response of the suction piston do not occur.
