Mounting.-A fan mounted on the shaft 11 is driven by the electric motor 1 the casing of which can be clamped by a screw 5 to a supporting vertical spindle 3 resting in ball bearings in a stand 2. Electric current is supplied to the motor through slip rings 8 and a lead 7 which passes through the spindle 3. The end of the shaft 11 remote from the fan, drives a vertical shaft 12 through worm gear which may be moved into engagement by the operation of the knob 13. A sleeve 14 is mounted to slide on the spindle 12 and is normally held in its upper position by a spring 19. Another sleeve 21 is slidably mounted on the sleeve 14 and has an expanded base which carries a frictional ring 22 of rubber or the like. Spring pressed balls 18 in the sleeve 21 engage grooves 18a, 18b in the sleeve 14 in the upper and lower positions respectively of the outer sleeve 21. A stud 24 on the end plate 23 of the outer sleeve is connected by a link 25 with a universal joint at each end to a cap 27, which can be screwed on to a projection 26 on the stand 2. With the worm-gear disconnected the motor simply rotates the fan, but when the worm-gear is moved into engagement by the knob 13, and the friction ring 22 is moved to engage the spherical part 9 of the standard 2, the fan head will be caused to oscillate while the cap 27 is screwed to the projection 26 as shown in Fig. 1. If the cap is removed from the projection the fan head will rotate continuously round the stand. A polygonal ring may be substituted for the circular ring 22 and the fan head then rotates intermittently.

    • An information editing apparatus for editing a reproduction manner of record information which is recorded on an information storage medium and includes at least one picture information, includes: a selecting unit for selecting a partial record information from the record information, the partial record information being part of the record information and including at least one picture information; a designating unit for designating a reproduction timing of the selected partial record information; an extracting unit for extracting the picture information included in the partial record information as a representative picture information indicative of the partial record information; and a recording unit for recording one of the extracted representative picture information and a designation information indicative of a recorded position on the information storage medium of the representative picture information and the designated reproduction timing on the information storage medium as a reproduction control information separately from the record information.

    • According to one embodiment, a fuser including a heating section which heats a hot-melt visualizing material fixed to a sheet medium and the sheet medium, a heat generator which increases the temperature of the heating section in accordance with supply of power, a temperature detector which detects the temperature of the heating section, and a controller which outputs temperature information during the increasing of the temperature on the basis of the temperature of the heating section detected by the temperature detector while the temperature of the heating section increases so that notification can be provided that fusing is possible for an image only using a single color hot-melt visualizing material.

    • A radiation diaphragm apparatus, which is adapted to form a radiation field, which is an exposed area of an object to be examined by radiation from a radiation source, comprises a plurality of diaphragm elements which are closely arranged in a first direction and movable along a second direction substantially normal to the first direction and each of which has a hole of a given shape formed to penetrate through it in the first direction, a shaft penetrating through the hole of each of the diaphragm elements, and a wear-resistant surface member coating the shaft.
