摘要： An apparatus and method for assigning subchannels of a transmitter in a communication system. The method includes dividing an entire frequency band into m subcarrier groups; mapping each of the m subcarrier groups to a subcarrier group index, wherein a subchannel includes n subcarriers selected from each of the m subcarrier groups corresponding to a subcarrier group index sequence; determining that a first data is needed to transmit in a first timing point; and assigning a first subchannel in the first timing point using a first subcarrier group index sequence. The first subcarrier group index sequence is different from a second subcarrier group index sequence used for assigning a second subchannel in a second timing point.

摘要： A method for allocating a subchannel in a transmitter of an Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access (OFDMA) cellular communication system in which an entire frequency band includes a plurality of bands, each of the bands includes a plurality of bins, and each of the bins includes a plurality of subcarriers. The method includes dividing a predetermined time interval into an Adaptive Modulation and Coding (AMC) subchannel time interval and a diversity subchannel time interval; selecting any one of the plurality of bands in the AMC subchannel time interval; selecting a predetermined number of bins among the plurality of bins in the selected band; and allocating the selected bins to the AMC subchannel.

摘要： In an apparatus for estimating a Carrier-to-Interference-and-Noise Ratio (CINR) in a communication system, received signals are blocked based on sub-carriers with similar channel characteristics. Interference and noise levels and true received signal levels are computed on a block-by-block basis from the blocked received signals. CINRs are estimated on a block-by-block basis using ratios between the computed interference and noise levels and the computed true received signal levels. The apparatus can estimate a CINR for all channels even when the channel characteristics of the sub-carriers of the received signals are not similar to each other.

摘要： An apparatus and method for transmitting/receiving channel quality information (CQI) in a communication system having a frame including subchannels corresponding to the same frequency reuse factor or different frequency reuse factors. A base station (BS) allocates at least one of the subchannels in the frame to a subscriber station (SS), and sends a transmission request for a CQI for a subchannel desired to be received, to the SS. The SS measures channel quality for individual subchannels requested by the BS in response to the CQI request, and transmits the measured channel quality to the BS.

In a broadband wireless access communication system utilizing an OFDM/OFDMA scheme, in which uplink time sync between a BS and a SS and the intensity of a BS reception signal are set, and a ranging signal is transmitted from the SS to the BS in order that the SS gives a bandwidth request to the BS. Described herein are a method for constructing a ranging channel, a method for a BS's operating a ranging channel to be used by a SS, a method for receiving ranging codes transmitted SS by SS from the BS to the SS through the ranging channel.

摘要： An apparatus and method for improving the reception performance of a Mobile Station (MS) in a multiple antenna system are provided. In an apparatus of a Base Station (BS) in the multiple antenna system, upon receipt of a request for interference cancellation for a first MS serviced by a neighbor BS, a channel estimator estimates a channel from the first MS and a channel from a second MS serviced by the BS. A beam coefficient generator generates a first beam coefficient based on channel estimates of the first and second MSs and a second beam coefficient based on the channel estimate of the second MS. An interference cancellation decider determines whether to perform interference cancellation for the first MS using the first and second beam coefficients.
