    • Described is a method of operating a device for monitoring vehicle-tyre pressures and indicating changes in pressure by radio, the device being fitted in the valve of the tyre. The device includes a pressure sensor, an analogue-digital converter for digitizing the signal from the pressure sensor, a memory for storing the pressure-sensor signal, a transmitter, a comparator, in particular a comparator with an integral microprocessor, the comparator comparing the pressure-sensor signal with a previously stored reference signal, generating a signal if the difference between the pressure-sensor signal and the reference signal exceeds a given threshold value and activating the transmitter which subsequently transmits information about the detected divergence to a receiver fitted in the vehicle, plus a time switch activates the device at intervals to carry out a measurement and comparison operation and, for the rest of the time, keeps the device switched off to save power. The comparator stores the pressure-sensor signal and uses it to produce a new reference signal which replaces the previous reference signal.

    • A process is disclosed for evaluating the signals from a tyre pressure monitoring system of vehicles with N wheels (R1 to R5) which carry each a sender. A receiving antenna (1 to 5) is arranged next to and associated to each sender. The antennas are connected to the input of a common receiver and the senders emit at time intervals data telegrams which contain an individual code and a subsequent data part. The signals having the same code and received at the same time by the receiving antennas (1 to 5) are summed and supplied to the receiver (8), alternating the signals from all N receiving antennas (1 to 5) and from N-1 receiving antennas (1, 2, 4, 5), in such a way that the receiving antenna (3) whose signal is excluded from the sum of the signals is selected among the total number N of receiving antennas (1 to 5) by cyclic alternation. The intensity of the sum signal is determined, the intensity of the sums of N-1 signals is compared with the intensity of the sums of N signals, then the receiving antenna (3) is determined which has the signal which causes the highest loss in intensity (D1 to D5) when it is excluded from the signal sum.     • The invention relates to means for guided, unidirectional or bi-directional transmission of electrical signals between a primary module (2) and a secondary module (3), incorporated in a vehicle steering wheel, by way of a two-wire line (18a, 18b; 18c, 18d). To be able to separate the primary module (2) and the secondary module (3), the primary two-wire line (18a, 18b) and the secondary two-wire line (18c, 18d) are terminated by a primary (12) or a secondary winding element (14) respectively which can be coupled to each other in the manner of a transformer by way of an air-gap (18; 18'). A primary shell-type core (11) holds the primary winding element (12), has a central opening (20) for the passage of a steering column supporting the steering wheel, and is substantially rotationally symmetrical to the axis (A) of symmetry of this central opening (20). The primary winding element (12) and the secondary winding element (14) are in the form of a toroid, the secondary winding element (14) is concentric to the primary winding element (12), and one receiving chamber (15) formed by the primary shell-type cores (11) and the secondary shell-type cores (13) holds the two winding elements (12, 14).
