    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a diagnostic method by which possibility of progress of arteriosclerosis and onset risk of ischemic diseases such as cardiac infarction caused by arteriosclerosis are accurately estimated and further, treatment results to ischemic diseases and prognostic expectation are made possible.
      SOLUTION: The method for estimating progress of arteriosclerosis and/onset risk of diseases caused by arteriosclerosis comprises a step for measuring polymorphism of a KLF5 gene by using a biological sample separated from mammals including human and the estimation method comprises a step for determining that progress of arteriosclerosis is rapid and/or onset risk of disease caused by arteriosclerosis is high when the polymorphism is (1) a monobasic polymorphism existing in a 5' adjacent region to KLF5 gene, acting on KLF5 promoter activity and necessary for response to angiotensin II or (2) a monobasic polymorphism existing in exon or intron of KLF5 and influencing on function or gene expression of KLF5.
