    • A quadrifilar helix antenna containing a hybrid junction power divider feed circuit and a plurality of radiating elements. The radiating elements are connected on one end to the hybrid junction power divider feed circuit and are free to radiate on the other end. In a particular embodiment, the antenna includes a microstrip hybrid junction power divider feed circuit deposited on the lower rectangular section of a dielectric substrate. The hybrid junction power divider feed circuit provides both a 0 to 180 degree phase shift and impedance matching. The antenna also includes four radiating microstrip elements deposited on the upper section of the dielectric substrate at a predetermined angle to form a helical pattern upon turning the planar antenna into a cylinder. The radiating elements are connected to the microstrip hybrid junction power divider feed circuit in pairs. The first pair is connected to the hybrid junction power divider feed circuit at the location of the 0 degree phase shift whereas the other pair is located at the 180 degree phase shift location. The second element of each pair is shorter than the first element by a predetermined distance to provide a phase quadrature between them. Therefore through this method, the required phase relationships for a circularly polarized beam pattern are achieved.

    • A sample plate structure is provided including a retainer plate having a central recess with a trough along its periphery, a sample insert plate which fits into and rests on contact surface of the recess, and a magnet that is held below the contact surface. A portion of the bottom surface of the insert is formed of a magnetic material. The magnet provides sufficient force to retain the insert plate in the retainer plate during MALDI MS analysis. The sample insert plate is provided with a peripheral configuration, which assures that the sample insert plate is properly oriented within the sample plate support structure and is held flat. A hole for a protrusion allows easy insert installation and alignment against the orientation feature in the recess as well as easy removal of the insert simply by pushing up from underneath the retainer plate. While the insert sample plate can be a consumable, the remaining portion of the apparatus can be reused.

    • The present invention relates to a novel antineoplastic agent, designated IMIC (Inhibitor of Mevalonate Incorporation Into Cholesterol) having the following characteristics:(a) is present in the retentate of dialyzed skim milk;(b) is non-dialyzable;(c) has general properties of pyrimidines;(d) is bound to a protein in the proteose-peptone fration of milk;(e) is soluble in water;(f) is insoluble in organic solvents;(g) is stable in acid;(h) is not bound or retained by a C.sub.18 or C.sub.8 reverse phase HPLC columns;(i) is not retained by a C.sub.18 or silica gel sep. pak;(j) has .lambda. maximum absorbance at 208 nm and 278 nm (UV) in neutral ad acidic solution and in a basic solution at 223 and 290 nm;(k) provides peaks with a retention time of 7.52 minutes upon fractionation by HFLC on a Biorad Aminex resin column (30 cm .times.7.9 nm) with 0.05 NH.sub.2 SO.sub.4 as the mobile phase and with a flow rate of 0.7 ml/minute;(l) provides peaks with a retention time of 9.9 minutes upon fractionation on an HPLC Biorad Ag 50 Mx-8 resin column (22 mm.times.20 cm) with 0.035N formic acid as the mobil phase and a flow rate of 4 ml/minutes.(m) inhibits cholesterolgenesis by inhibiting mevalonate incorporation into cholesterol along the cholesterol biosynthetic pathway.IMIC can be employed in compositions of pharmaceutically acceptable dosages and, specifically, in a method of treating neoplastic disorders in mammals.
