    • 188,303. Murphy, H. R., and Murphy, H. B. Aug. 8, 1922. Table games.-A game apparatus comprises a smooth rectangular table bounded by vertical non-resilient rings or discs having convex peripheries and adapted to slide on the table when impelled by a cue or the like and to rebound from each other and from the non-resilient rails. In the form shown in Fig. 1 the table A and vertical rails ? a are made of wood, and pockets B are provided. The pockets may be omitted. An underframing C, D, Fig. 2, strengthened by corner blocks C prevents warping of the table. The resilient rings and discs for impelling over the table assume various forms such as those shown in Figs. 6 .. 10. In Fig. 6 the periphery e of the ring, made. of celluloid, vulcanite, wood, &c. has a curvature equal to an arc of a sphere of the same diameter as the ring. The ring may have a solid or inflated rubber periphery g, Fig. 8. A solid or inflated rubber disc F, Fig. 7, with a sole plate f may be used. In Fig. 9, a solid wooden disc has a rubber periphery g, and in Fig. 10 the disc is shown hollow.

    • 178,016. McCarthy, J. H., and Murphy, R. May 17, 1921. Combined hand and foot driving-mechanism; combined hand driving and steering mechanism. -A wheeled toy for children comprises a seat 1, Figs. 2 and 3, supported on rear driving-wheels C and on a front steering-wheel 11. The driving and steering are performed by the rocking and rotation, respectively, of a lever 14 which has at its upper end a handle-bar 17 and at its lower end a foot-bar 16 whereby driving and steering may be performed by hand, or by foot, or by both. The seat carries a cross-piece 2 on which is mounted the cranked rear axle 3, and slidably mounted beneath the seat are two side-bars 7 which are pivotally connected to a cross-member 9 pivoted to the seat. The rear ends of the sidebars pass through slots in the cross-peice 2, and the front ends are pivotally connected to members 12 rotatably carrying the post 10 of the front wheel. The rocking lever 14 is pivotally mounted on the horizontal member 18 of a U-shaped pin, Fig. 4, the vertical members 19 of which are pivotally mounted in the side-bars, and the lower end of the lever is connected with the cranked part 4 of the rear axle by an articulated connecting-rod 15. In a modification, Fig. 7, the seat extends the full length of the vehicle, and the side-bars are replaced by metal straps 24 pivoted to cross-members 25. The post 10 of the front wheel 11 is carried by the seat, and the rocking lever passes through an aperture in the seat, its pivot-pin being pivoted to the straps 24.
