The operating range of the shear leg crane includes an overboarding position and a deck lift position, wherein the shear leg jib is vertical or near vertical and wherein the at least one main hook is operable to perform hoisting operations with a heavy and large object suspended therefrom with said at least one main hook – when seen in vertical projection – in a position above the flush cargo deck area.
