摘要： The invention relates to an improved separation device in which a plate unit containing the filter comprises a separate abutment ring (20) and a cassette (30) which can be easily connected thereto, said cassette comprising at least one filter (15) together with, if required, a frame belonging thereto so as to support the filter. If the filter consists of a flexible membrane, this is fitted into a special frame. However, if the filter is a rigid, self-supporting filter of a porous material, for example, a ceramic filter or the like, a separate frame is not needed to support the filter. The separation device according to the present invention does not require a separate outer cover.

摘要： The invention concerns a method and a device for separation of separable constituents from a liquid medium. The separation device comprises only one cell or a stack of a plurality of adjacent cells, whereby each cell consists of a plate unit containing a filter (13), an inlet (l6) for supplying the liquid medium into a chamber (10), an outlet (1 8) for discharging the reject and an outlet (17) for discharging the permeate. The liquid medium is subjected to a strong turbulence created by a conveniently designed rotor, possibly combined with sound waves, preferably ultrasound, and/or an electric field, whereby the deposition of separable constituents on the filter is prevented or essentially reduced. According to the invention a rotor is used in which the essentially plane surface of the rotor wings directed towards the filter comprises one or more areas (20) deviating from the plane of said surface; or the surface (19) of the rotor wings directed towards the filter is curved in such a way that the distance between the surface of the wing and the filter is small at the inner portion of the rotor and that said distance gradually increases towards the periphery of the roto r, or the section of the rotor wings in a plane parallel with the filter forms an almost S-shaped surface, whereby the S-shape is continuous.

摘要： Modification of starch at dry matter content of more than 15%, preferably more than 25%, involves degrading and stabilizing starch. The degradation is performed by hypochlorite oxidation or acid treatment to a degree of degradation at which the viscosity of surface size prepared from starch is more than 10 mPas, preferably more than 25 mPas. The viscosity is calculated to a dry matter content of 10%, at 60degreesC using Brookfield RVTD II at 100 rpm. Independent claims are included for the following: (1) starch which has been modified at least by degradation and stabilization; (2) use of starch in surface sizing based on film transfer technology, where a smooth rod or blade is used for spreading the surface size on the film transfer surface such as a roll; (3) method for regulating porosity of a paper web which involves regulating a starch content in surface size; and (4) method for surface sizing of paper which involves using size application device and surface size solution prepared from modified starch.
