    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide: a method for promoting and suppressing growth of a tree and a method for promoting flower budding and fruition of a tree and root crops, using diatomous earth or the like which allow the growth of the tree to be controlled, by burying or laying diatomous earth or the like; and a method for alleviating an adverse effect component's effect which reduces salinity concentration in the earth, by spraying or burying diatomous earth or the like to or into the earth.SOLUTION: Diatomaceous earth and the other component is laid, to promote growth of a seedling by covering diatomaceous earth and the other components with the earth, or to suppress the growth by exposing diatomaceous earth and the other components, such that the moisture amount in the earth is kept in constant, thereby allowing the growth to be controlled. Further, to an adult tree and root crops, the effects of moisture retention, fertilizer retention, and heat retention by diatomaceous earth and the other components can promote the rootlets to develop and increase the number of flower buds and fruition. Furthermore, the water retention ability of diatomaceous earth and the other components is utilized to reduce salinity concentration of the earth by scattering diatomaceous earth and the other components in the earth or by laying on a furrow.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problems that even though remarkable progress has been recently made in an open encryption method and a symmetric encryption method to improve confidentiality by reinforcing the code strength in terms of mathematics and communication engineering while attempts have been made to increase the usage by private companies on the Internet as well as national confidentiality such as military information, the situation still continues that encryption systems which are far from an image of regular people or hard to recognize must be used (for example, a secret key of "164qwplvmbv" must be input when the regular people use a code itself) and also these days opinions put on bulletin boards on the Internet such as Twitter are copied and put on disturbing websites without any change and without any permission from authors.SOLUTION: Specified in order to solve such problems is a code structure composed of a hint part and a decryption data part which allow for a code data part which is encrypted as a whole or partially to decrypt by inputting a decryption key part which can be inferred from the hint part.

    • Confirmation of the content of the images recorded on a CD-R or other storage medium is made easier. A data obtaining means obtains plural sets of image data recorded on a digital camera, etc. data storage medium, and an image processing means subjects the obtained image data to image processing and obtains processed image data. The processed image data is recorded onto a CD-R, etc. storage medium by an image recording means. A representative image selecting means selects images representative of the images represented by the image data. Then, thumbnail images of the selected representative images are attached to the surface of the storage medium disk by a representative image attaching means.

    • In a digital output service of photographs, smooth operation of an additional recording service is aimed at by letting a user or an operator of a service provider easily understand the number of photographs addable to a storage medium. The free space size of a storage medium is detected each time new or additional recording therein is completed, and information regarding the free space size is indicated to a customer by being recorded on a recording medium corresponding to the storage medium, such as index print for the storage medium. On this occasion, the free space size is indicated as the number of films or exposures such as “6 25-exposure films” (6 (25 Exp)) or “160 exposures” (160) so that a user who is not familiar with expressions in bytes can readily understand it.

    • An operation of an iris filter is carried out on an original image signal representing an image, and the degree of centralization of gradients of the original image signal with respect to a picture element is thereby calculated, each of picture elements constituting the image being taken as the picture element. An image portion, which is associated with a high degree of centralization, in the image is detected in accordance with the calculated degree of centralization. Image emphasis processing is then selectively carried out on the detected image portion. Alternatively, a morphology operation is carried out on an original image signal Dorg by using a multiply structure element Bi and a scale factor &lgr;, and a morphology signal Dmor is thereby obtained. The morphology signal Dmor represents whether each of picture elements constituting the image is or is not the one corresponding to an image portion, at which the original image signal Dorg fluctuates in a spatially narrower range than the multiply structure element Bi. Image emphasis processing is then carried out on the original image signal Dorg and in accordance with the morphology signal Dmor.

    • A radiation image signal, which has been obtained by reading out a radiation image having been recorded by use of an irradiation field stop and having an irradiation field thereon, is thinned out at a predetermined rate, and a thinned-out image signal is thereby obtained. The shape and location of the irradiation field are determined in accordance with the thinned-out image signal, and a range of a blackening process is set in accordance with the results of the determination. A blackening process is carried out on the thinned-out image signal with respect to the set blackening process range, and a visible image is reproduced from the thinned-out image signal., which has been obtained from the blackening process. The blackening process range is corrected in accordance with the visible image reproduced from the thinned-out image signal, which has been obtained from the blackening process. The blackening process is then carried out on the radiation image signal and in accordance with the set blackening process range or the corrected blackening process range.
