    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide stainless steel having excellent corrosion resistance to high temperature lactic acid which has excellent corrosion resistance to lactic acid having high temperature up to 230°C and high concentration of at least 80%, and a method for using the same.SOLUTION: Stainless steel having excellent corrosion resistance to high temperature lactic acid includes, in mass%, 0.001-0.050% of C, 0.01-1.00% of Si, 0.1-6.0% of Mn, 17.0-31.0% of Cr, 0.2-4.2% of Mo, 0.25-5.30% of Ni, and 0.30% or less (including 0) of N, and limits P to the amount of 0.06% or less and S to the amount of 0.010% or less, with the balance comprising iron and unavoidable impurities, wherein the index value of corrosion resistance to lactic acid is at least 3, which is obtained by the following formula 1: index value of corrosion resistance to lactic acid=[Cr]+8×[Mo]-5×[Ni]. The method for using the same is also provided.
