    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manufacture a hot-forged component such as a connecting rod characterized in that: a material is appropriately controlled to have low ductility while keeping required strength; the raw material is hot forged in a monolithic state; the obtained material shows a flat brittle fracture face when the material is subjected to tensile fracture at normal temperature; when the fractured and divided parts are again united, they can be easily butted; and the material can be subjected to machining such as making a bolt hole without using an element such as Pb which influences the global environment.
      SOLUTION: The component has a ferrite single phase structure and contains fine precipitates having 2 yield stress and ≥0.85 yield ratio, and shows a brittle fracture face by tensile fracture.
