    • An electrician's tool is disclosed which comprises a combination template and spirit level. A pair of locating pins stored in the housing carrying at least one spirit level are removable and relocatable in a pair of pin-receiving openings which are spaced from one another and from a side edge of the template the distance required to mate with and be detachably received within the grounded prong-receiving openings of a conventional dual receptacle. When so positioned, a lip on the righthand edge of the template defines a stop-forming abutment for locating a second dual socket or a toggle switch in the precise ganged relation necessary to accept an appropriately apertured trimplate. A horizontally-disposed spirit level is used to align the receptacles to toggle switches or both vertically. A second vertically-disposed spirit level may be included for aligning horizontal installations.

    • A high-resolution, patterned-media master mask is disclosed. The high-resolution, patterned-media master mask includes an electron-absorption substrate for absorbing electrons from an electron beam (e-beam) during an e-beam exposure by an e-beam lithography process and suppressing a backscattering of the electrons based on an electron-backscattering-suppressing atomic number associated with a constituent atomic species of the electron-absorption substrate, wherein the electron-absorption substrate comprises a material composed of greater than fifty atomic percent of the constituent atomic species, and wherein the electron backscattering-suppressing atomic number is less than an atomic number eight. The high-resolution, patterned-media master mask further includes a patterned portion coupled with the electron-absorption substrate, wherein the patterned portion is patterned by the e-beam lithography process, and wherein a resolution of the patterned portion is increased in response to the electron-absorption substrate suppressing the backscattering of the electrons.

    • A method for finishing a pole tip trimmed read/write heat that includes a substrate with a pole tip structure having a shield, a shield/pole, and an outer pole. A gap region separates the pole and the shield/pole. First, pole tip trimming is performed to the read/write head to remove matter from the shield/pole, the pole, and the gap region. This defines a bridge composed of inward-facing extensions of the pole and shield/pole interconnected by an intervening region. This bridge separates recessed “trenches,” each formed by removing a contiguous mass from the shield/pole, the gap region, and the pole. Next, an overlayer is applied over the pole tip structure, filling the recessed trenches. The coated structure is then trimmed to remove all coating material overlying the shield/pole and pole. Trimming is continued to additionally remove a top layer of the protrusions of the pole and shield/pole to remove any rounded edges created by pole tip patterning, resulting in a more distinct write head. The refilled trenches of the recessed areas impart improved resistance to corrosive attack, to head-crashes from the release of accumulated debris, and to mechanical damage of the trimmed pole-tip structure.
