    • A safety belt apparatus for vehicles, in particular motor vehicles having at least one safety belt, which is wound to a greater or lesser degree onto a belt reel rotatably secured on the vehicle chassis about an axis of rotation and preferably biased by a spring retraction mechanism. A toothed ratchet wheel is rotationally coupled to the belt reel and cooperating with a blocking pawl secured to the housing. The blocking pawl is movable into and out of engagement with respect to the toothed ratchet wheel by a cam ring concentric to the belt reel axis via a step down transmission. A toothed control wheel is connected to the belt reel via an eccentric transmission and has at its periphery a preferably wavelike arrangement of teeth which is surrounded by an inner toothed ring fixed to the housing of larger diameter and with complementary, but with a smaller or preferably larger number of teeth. As a results, the toothed control wheel stands in meshing arrangement with the inner toothed ring over a restricted peripheral region and diametrically opposite thereto. The two arrangements of teeth have a radial spacing such that the toothed control wheel rolls off on the inner toothed ring on rotation of the belt reel. The total draw out length of the safety belt corresponds to an angle of rotation of the toothed control wheel relative to the axis of rotation of substantially 180°. The toothed control wheel is rotationally fixedly connected to the cam ring, but radially displaceable in the context of its eccentric movement. The cam ring has a switching means along a first angular region for the engagement and disengagement of the blocking pawl and at least one switching element along a second angular region for at least one further belt draw out dependent switching operation.

    • A belt tensioner for safety belt arrangements in motor vehicles has a holder (11) on which are provided a belt winding reel (12) with a safety belt (13) coiled thereon, a blocking arrangement and an additional drive (15) connected via clutch (20) to the belt winding reel (12). The additional drive (15) contains a pressure source (16) which abruptly builds up a high pressure in a pressure chamber on being triggered and also contains a torque generating device (18) acted on by the pressure in the pressure chamber (17) and a drive shaft (19) connected to the latter. The drive shaft (19) is rotationally fixedly connectable to the belt winding reel (12) via the clutch (20). The torque generating device (18) includes a flexible draw band (21) which is secured at one end at a first mounting point (25) to the periphery of the drive shaft (19) or to the drive reel (22) concentrically mounted thereon and is partially wound onto the drive shaft (19), or onto the drive reel (22) and is secured at the other end, at a second mounting point (26) to the peripheral wall (30) of a band running chamber (23) within a housing (24). Pressure applied to the draw band causes belt tensioning movement of the drive shaft (19) or drive reel (22).

    • The invention relates to a safety belt arrangement in vehicles having a belt tensioner comprising: a holder which is to be secured to the vehicle chassis, with a belt winding reel with a safety belt wound thereon being rotatably mounted on the holder; a belt retraction spring arrangement by means of which the safety belt is continuously lightly pretensioned in the draw-in direction so that it only loosely lies against the vehicle occupant secured by it; and an auxiliary drive which is separated drivewise by a clutch from the belt winding reel but is activated abruptly with an accident-dependent acceleration and is rotationally fixedly coupled to the belt winding reel via the then engaged clutch. The auxiliary drive has two band running chambers separated by sealing walls and two draw bands which are each arranged in one band running chamber, with the draw bands being secured at one end to a housing and at the other end to a drive reel and being acted on by the pressure source in the event of an accident-dependent acceleration of the vehicle in order to drive the drive reel which is fixedly connected to the belt winding reel in the belt draw-in direction. In accordance with the invention, the clutch is accommodated in a hollow coupling cavity provided in the drive reel.
