    • A display panel includes first and second data lines and a first pixel column containing pixels that are alternately connected to the first and second data lines. In a method of driving the display panel, a second data voltage having a first polarity is outputted to the second data line during an N-th horizontal period. A first data voltage having a second polarity phase-inverted with respect to the first polarity and a first compensating voltage having the second polarity are respectively outputted to the first data line during first and second intervals of the N-th horizontal period. The first data voltage having the second polarity is outputted to the first data line during an (N+1)-th horizontal period. The second data voltage having the first polarity and a second compensating voltage having the first polarity are respectively outputted to the second data line during first and second intervals of the (N+1)-th horizontal period.

    • A multi-cell gap fringe field switching mode LCD includes an upper substrate having an overcoat film and a lower substrate having a counter electrode and a pixel electrode successively formed thereon with a gate insulation film interposed between them. The overcoat film is patterned in such a manner that the cell gap at the center of the pixel electrode is different from that at the edge thereof and the overcoat film has a convex pattern formed on a part thereof corresponding to the center of the pixel electrode in a slanted profile and a concave pattern formed on a part thereof corresponding to the edge of the pixel electrode to optimize the driving voltage and phase delay value (Δnd) in each position of the pixel electrode.

    • Provided are a gate-lines driver circuit and a liquid crystal display (LCD) device including the same. The gate-lines driver may be in danger of being subjected to static electricity and it includes: a wiring unit which receives signals from an external source and a circuit unit which outputs driving signals in response to a plurality of control signals received from the wiring unit. The circuit unit includes a plurality of shift registers, each having shift register wirings, wherein the wiring unit includes first through n-th vertical signal lines arranged sequentially in order of distance from the shift registers, with the first vertical signal line being located farthest from the shift registers. The first vertical signal line is connected to each of the shift registers by a first horizontal connection line, and the first horizontal connection line includes a first contact portion which is formed over and contacting with the first signal line and a second contact portion which is located between the n-th vertical signal line and a boundary of the shift registers and is connected to each of the shift registers by a shift register wiring. The first horizontal connection line is structured to reduce a danger that the shift registers will be burned out by a surge of static electricity current received through the wiring unit.
