    • A drill rod for percussive rock drilling includes a first rod part and an additional second rod part. The first rod part includes first and second ends, an inner duct, and an external thread disposed adjacent the first end, wherein the external thread is at least partly hardened by heat treatment. The additional rod part includes first and second ends, an inner duct, and an internally thread disposed adjacent the first end thereof, wherein the internal thread is at least partly hardened by heat treatment. The first ends of the respective first and second rod parts are threadedly secured to one another, and the second ends of the respective first and second rod parts are welded together to define a weld zone having a substantially martensitic structure. If there is further provided an intermediate hollow rod part, then the second ends of the respective first and second rod parts would be welded to respective ends of the intermediate hollow part to define weld zones having a substantially martensitic structure.

    • Two components used in a percussive drill string include a spigot and a sleeve, respectively. The spigot includes a male thread connected to a female thread of the sleeve to form a thread joint. The male and female threads are dimensioned such that axially inner and outer end areas of the female thread are in non-engagement with the male thread when the thread joint is in a tightened state. The spigot includes axially inner and outer conical guiding surfaces facing toward respective axially outer and inner conical guiding surfaces, respectively. Each conical guiding surface forms an angle with a centerline of the sleeve, the angle lying in the range 1 to 20 degrees, to prevent the spigot and the sleeve from being welded together by frictional heat during a drilling operation.

    • The invention is meant for a cant forming arrangement of the kind with at least two rotational chipping heads with a basic cut off conical form where they each have a basic conical main surface and a small end, whereby the chipping heads are arranged in pairs with the small ends turned opposing one another and equipped with replaceable knives which are arranged on the respective chipping head's main face with the purpose to surface a log on two opposing sides, through length feeding of a log between the chipping heads, while they are rotating, and that the wood which is removed is made directly to chips by the knives. A single knife in at least one spiral set of cutting knives closest to the chipping head's small end, shows a main angled cutting edge which, besides that it in a known way extends substantially parallel with a rotational plane to the chipping heads, is angled 10 to 50 degrees back in relation to a radius through the rotation center and the chipping heads, in such a way that an outer, from the rotational center furthest away end of the main cutting edge is located further back towards the rotational direction in relation to an inner, closer to the rotational center located end of the cutting edge.
