    • A liquid crystal display device is provided in which, even when divided light guide plate blocks are thermally expanded or contracted as a result of a temperature change, the generation of clearances and mechanical deformations between such divided light guide plate blocks is prevented, making it possible to reduce the brightness unevenness of the liquid crystal display device. To realize the above feature, light guide plate blocks are arranged such that one or two of them are arranged in each horizontal row with only an upper side of each light guide plate block fixed to a chassis and, furthermore, such that the upper side fixed to the chassis of each light guide plate block is based on a center in the horizontal direction of the liquid crystal display panel so as to reduce the effects of thermal expansion and contraction of each light guide plate block.

    • A rotating head mechanism of a rotary type AC magnetic flux leakage flaw detector comprises a rotating disc which has an opening for passing a test piece for flaw detection, mounting frames which are disposed in the rotating disc so as to oppose to each other with the opening located therebetween, shafts which are rotatably disposed across the mounting frames and each of which has external threads of senses opposite to each other at a position on one side of the opening and a position on the other side thereof, a first nut which engages the external thread of one sense in the external threads of each shaft, a second nut which engages the external thread of the other sense in the external threads of each shaft, a first cradle which is coupled to the first nuts, a second cradle which is coupled to the second nuts, a first exciting magnetic poles/detecting probes-assembly which is mounted on the first cradle, a second exciting magnetic poles/detecting probes-assembly which is mounted on the second cradle, and rotation drive means for rotating the shafts. When the shafts are rotated by the rotation drive means, the first and second nuts are moved in a direction in which they come near to each other or away from each other along the shafts, thereby making it possible to change an opposing spacing in a diametrical direction of the opening, between the first and second exciting magnetic poles/detecting probes-assemblies respectively mounted on the first and second cradles.

    • The invention makes patterns which may show, according to the positioning of light guide plates, along the vertical direction of a display screen of a side-edge type liquid crystal display device inconspicuous. This is achieved by disposing light guide plates so as to guide the illumination light from light sources, for example, LEDs along the vertical direction of the display screen. The vertically guided illumination light is reflected, with reflection sheets also facilitating the reflection, at rear sides of the light guide plates and is, after traveling through a diffusion sheet to be made more uniform, further guided to liquid crystals. Even though boundaries between light guide plates are generally more conspicuous along the vertical direction of a display screen than along the horizontal direction, first guiding the illumination light into a vertical direction removes the problem of such boundaries conspicuously showing along the vertical direction.
