    • The present invention relates to a broadband reflective polarizer, and a backlight unit and a liquid crystal display having same. The broadband reflective polarizer of the present invention includes a reflective polarizing film which enables first polarized light and second polarized light of at least one or more random polarized lights of the wavelength band where the intensity of light is higher than in another wavelength band, from among white light emitted from a light source, to exit, and enables first polarized light of the rest of the random polarized light to exit and second polarized light of the rest of the random polarized light to be reflected; and an absorptive polarizing film which enables the first polarized light incident from the reflective polarizing film to exit, and absorbs the second polarized light incident from the reflective polarizing film. As the present invention provides the reflective polarizing film and the absorptive polarizing film for appropriately adjusting and emitting random polarized light having a great light intensity from among white light emitted from a light source, optimal color expression can be achieved.

    • The present invention relates to an optical element that is used in a backlight unit. The present invention comprises: a base film that is transparent to light; a fine optical pattern that is provided on one face of said base film and has a plurality of continuous peaks and valleys to focus incident light; and at least one diffusion bead comprising an inner substance and an outer substance surrounding the inner substance, and coated on the valleys of said fine optical pattern so that cracks in the peaks caused by friction with another optical device laminated onto said fine optical pattern may be prevented and incident light may be refracted by the difference in refractive indices and reflected vertically. Therefore, the present invention has the advantage of appropriately maintaining luminance by the difference in refractive indices between the diffusion bead and resin, while also preventing cracks in the peaks caused by friction with another optical device, thereby preventing wet-out phenomena.
